Our Town Energy Alliance

I buy my propane via a neighborhood purchasing group. It saves me big bucks.

My son is buying a house in a small town. Between a lack of gallons used and a lack of collective buying muscle, he will be paying a high price.

He is considering Our Town Energy Alliance

Have any of you had any experience with this or any other similar company?

Thanks

There is an annual fee of $25.00 or so. Our Town negotiates rates with propane and oil suppliers. Probably not as low as a large group like Suissevale apparently gets. As I recall, the rate for this year for usage of 1201 to 2000 gallons was 1.79. I believe that price was through Eastern Propane.

We have OTEA at home (Alton) for our Kero and Propane through Eastern. Joining the Alliance almost cut our propane cost per gallon on half. We are low usage as well.
Highly recommend them.

We use OTEA for propane at our primary residence in MA and have been very pleased with them. We were already using Eastern and saved quite a bit by joining OTEA. I think some of the programs are already closed for this season so he may need to wait until summer to sign up.

Also look at "The Fuel Club" in Claremont. They have very similar program and have different suppliers. I switched from OTEA to The Fuel Club because I wanted to use Irving instead of Eastern. "thefuelclub.com" BTW, I have been very satisfied with both buying clubs. Saved a lot of money.

We've used OTEA for years for our Carroll County Oil - great service from both, huge savings.

Thank you for the responses.

Hopefully this will help my son save some money.

I currently have Eastern living in the seacoast region of NH. I'm under the assumption from these posts and website that Eastern would remain my supplier?

If i was to switch over to OTEA, would I have to get new tanks delivered from OTEA or could I use the same tanks? Do they do automatic delivery taking into account propane use based on weather, your usual use, etc. etc.?

Thanks in advance!

OTEA only acts as a "broker" in negotiating the fees. You would be billed by the supplier of propane and all of the issues regarding delivery and tanks would be handled by the propane supplier. So if the OTEA supplier for your region is Eastern and you currently use Eastern, should be a no brainer, assuming that OTEA is still processing applications. Not sure when the deadline to sign up was.

As was mentioned, Eastern will continue to serve you. Just make 2 phone calls, first Our Town to get your sign up, then to Eastern to have them input your Our Town number. A no brainer for sure! We save 1/3 off the price we were paying Eastern before we joined OTEA! Two thumbs up!
