June 2008 Weather Summary

Here is the June 2008 weather summary for Black Cat Island Weather Station.

Overall the month averaged about normal for temperature (Concord norms in use.) This was the result of below-average daytime temperatures combined with above-average overnight temperatures. The daytime temperatures were held down by Canadian weather disturbances that wouldn't let the skies clear very often, and the higher overnight temperatures were likely the result of the cloud cover from the same disturbances. The month's low of 48 occurred on the driest day of the month, during which the average relative humidity was just 60 percent (compared with the month's average of 80 percent.)

It was the second-wettest month of 2008 so far (after February) and wetter than any month in 2007.

Concord norms are in parenthesis.

Avg. Max: 73.5 (77.3)... Max 89 on the 9th and 10th

Avg. Min: 57.3 (51.2)... Min 48 on the 13th

Total Precipitation: 5.19 inches (3.15)

Average wind speed: 9 mph
Dominant direction: Southeast

Peak wind gust: From the northwest at 75 mph on the 22nd

Days with Fog: 17
