Very cool clip. I remember riding the train at Steamtown.
I wonder where 'ol #127 is today. |

Great video. We rode this train from Laconia to Meredith during this special week. We still have the commemorative wooden nickels from this event in 1968. This was our first full season at our cottage on East Bear Island. 🐻

Laconia native
I use to walk to the Laconia station to watch the locomotives. As you can see they have the ability to switch locomotives without a turntable. An amazing display! Watch carefully the Lakeport footage and you will see the old Lakeshore Railroad switch is there. At the time Texwood and Grossman Lumber would use the old track.
I think the last passenger train was in 1973. Freight trains were common in the later years. |
That is very cool footage! Thank you for posting.

I took a school trip at Steam Town when it was in Rockingham Vt. I've driven past its current location in Pennsylvania many times but did not have time to stop.
A lot of my high school classmates got summer jobs there. Only the pro's (retired RR people) got to work on the train trips but it was considered a fun place to work even though it was frequently arduous. |
