One of the reasons I find April Fools day a terrible tradition.

Bike Week Extended to 100 Days

Motorcycle Week Executive Director Charlie St. Clair announced Friday that the 100th rally will last 100 days, in honor of 100 years of riding, drinking, racing and leather fashions.

On a slow news day I guess you just make stuff up.

They always have news.
April 1st Edition is usually worked on for weeks.
They try to be funny without being too political.

And the related abbreviation, MMW. In today's context MMW is the Merrymeeting Waterway proposed in the early/mid 50's by Cap'n Jack Goodhue, to build a canal and lock system from Alton Bay to Dover. Goodhue Boat Yard had just installed the lake's largest capacity rail travel lift and he wanted to service 60'-80' yachts. In those days, Selectmen and Chambers of Commerce wanted large boats to come to public docks as a tourist attraction. Wolfeboro even had water and electricity on the "Cruiser dock".

Happy AFD.

A bridge would be too ugly: a tunnel would be much better.

Bridging the Broads

Our 89-y-o friends called us this morning after seeing this in a panic, seriously ready to sell their condo. I told her it couldn’t possibly be true, but I had not remembered that today is AFD.
So between the bridge and 100 days of Bike Week……oy vey!! As soon as I saw it for myself, I called her right back!

With MC week to be extended to 100 days:

Quote:

“Tower Hill plans to be open and serving 24 hours a day for the first 60 days,” St. Clair said. “With permission from the city council, of course.”

Tower Hill Tavern's owner, Anthony Santagate, could not be reached for an interview but said in a written statement he planned to purchase a small island in the Pacific with the proceeds from this year's rally.
