Hot Tub
 

We are thinking about getting a hot tub, we have narrowed the choices to the Hot Springs Flair or the Sundance Chelsea looking for peoples experiences with either brand.

Both are big money, big luxury, high end hot tubs that need 220-v ..... sort of like Mercedes and Lexus .... both have strong dealer support in Meredith.

For 1/2 the price, running on 110-v, outdoor use, Abundant Life in Chichester has the basic lower end line also made by Hot Springs that Energysavers doesn't carry. With hot tubs, there can be too many jets ...... like, 15-jets will work good .... are 30-jets really needed?

Both are good brands. I have owned 3 Sundance spas so I know them pretty well. My last one was a bit of a lemon, but I got pretty good at fixing them over the years. Parts were always readily available online. I’ve been looking around for a new one for my main home, and I’ve been thinking Hot Springs this time. I really like the new dealer down here on the Seacoast, Mainely Tubs. They carry parts in stock for all models made within the last 30 years. They have a huge service department, with multiple trucks in the road daily.

Think twice is my advice. I loved our hot tub for a year or two. It was a white elephant after that

Im sure all the tubs out there are great. Our family has had a couple over the years. You really want to put a lot of stock into service. Is the service center local to you, or would techs need to travel a distance? Even a small issue can be very expensive if a tech is coming from a distance.

Just don't put it on your front porch. :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
There is a house on Main Street in Meredith that we pass every time we come up and my kids always have a laugh at the hot tub on the front porch, "only in NH".:emb::emb::emb::emb:

Agreed. We used ours all the time the first year and after that it was a big expensive pain in the neck.

Plunge pools are the "new thing". Big bucks though.

My waterfront cottage with the killer-diller location and view is an oldie moldy cottage with no foundation ..... set on wood posts or piers ..... and the floors do get cold ..... so, the outdoor hot tub is the warmest, 104-degree, spot in the winter. Is not a white elephant ..... is the place to be.

And with vintage 1950, 60-amp electric service, I had to switch from electric to propane stove to have enough power to run a 110v-20a hot tub .... but it all worked pretty good. From 1999 to 2018, I had the same Hot Springs Jetsetter hot tub, outdoors, and it ran good till 2018 when it started to have problems with the main control panel, and Energysavers was not able to get a $400+ replacement panel from Hot Springs probably due to its' old age, or something ..... which was a bummer ..... but that's what happened.

Lost your passion for the Hot - Tub............Perhaps some sling t.v.

I inherited a sundance with the home I bought. It's been great - use it all the time and it is easy to have it serviced and maintained out of Meredith.

I bought a soft-tub about 4 years ago and have never filled it with water. It seemed like a good idea as they are very lightweight and mobile with external pump. I figured I could move it around and easily fill/empty with water. I will probably get rid of it this summer.

I'll Chime in too with both a recommendation & warning !

We had GREAT success with Sundance Tub -- had a six person tub, which really means 4 comfortably, for nearly 7 years with only one maintenance call (Ozonator failed).

We simply got tired of it and we were not using it as much --- first 5 or so years we ran it 12 months/yr and would be in it literally every evening after work ….. then (getting older) we didn't use it as often and ultimately sold it a year ago -- still in perfect working condition.

The Warning: -- If you run it 12months/yr -- brace for your electric bill to jump $60 - $80/month (especially in winter months)
