To anyone who is looking for the ultimate place to chill out and be pampered then look no further then Mystic Meadows and Tavern 27. I am an Iraqi Vet and I would highly recommend to all veterans to stop in and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. What great therapy.They have a little par 3 course and driving range and then you walk into heaven.The owner Leslie was great and the head chef Glen has put together a spectacular menu.The brother-sister duo Joel and aspiring actress/model Angela (WOW) were awesome and I talked to them for over an hour.The food is delicious!!! I had the Calamari and it was the best I had ever had. They use a rice mixture for their breading and not only was it good but gluten free.I am going back on Tuesday for their New Englander burger.Locally grown Scottish Highland Beef and 2 year old Grafton cheddar,This is one of the best dining experiences I have ever had please check this out for yourself.

We tried to stop in on our way up last Friday night but there was a wait and we didn’t think about making a reservation. The gentleman who greeted us could not give us a ball park of how long the wait would be and since we had a sleeping new born we thought it would be a good idea to try it another time. Looking forward to trying it....

It is difficult to predict how long diners will enjoy Tapas. It is common for people to extended their dining after a glimpse of, and then ordered of a tantalizing dish that was in-route to a neighboring table. The Tapas service style allows for both the flow of tasty morsels and time to converse about them. We will never chase a guest from their seat and look forward to comforting you in yours.

My wife and I tried Tavern27 last Thursday (June 10th). Our good experience started the moment we exited the car. It was raining pretty hard, and before we could open the doors someone ran up to my wife's side of the car with a huge umbrella. Turned out that that person was Ray, who, along with Leslie, is one of the owners of the restaurant. From that point on, things only got better.

As an earlier poster noted (in the "Tapas" thread), the place looks great inside. From the wood floors and fireplace in the small bar/entrance area, throughout the two separate dining rooms, Tavern27 gives off a warm feeling. The menu is fairly large, with mostly small dishes (tapas), but also a few large ones. No sooner had we ordered drinks, when someone from the kitchen brought us a complimentary plate of sourdough crostini, topped with some type of chick pea (I think) and cheese paste, which were excellent (but not on the menu, yet).

For dinner, we tried three items: Green Salad with Spicy Pork (a special), asparagus wrapped in a thin crepe with curry gorgonzola sauce, and Roasted Beet Napolean, with grilled portabello mushroom, spinach and Chevre (a goat cheese). All three were great, and very different. The spicy pork, a "small dish," was the largest of the three, and could have been a meal in itself (for $8). Aside from the excellent and generous amount of pork, the bleu cheese dressing had large chunks of cheese and a serious taste that elevated it above that found in most restaurants. The Beet dish, a "large dish," was actually the smallest of the three. We finished with a dessert special and two coffees, and another look at the menu - to plan for our next visit! The coffees were made to order - in a french press, back in the kitchen. This produced an excellent, rich brew, but eliminated the opportunity for a quick re-fill/re-warm (which you'd want, with coffee this good). I'd recommend bringing small french presses right to the table, so the refill can be there when needed. Aside from that one very minor quibble, I'd rate our experience "excellent."

I think Tavern27 is going to be around for a long time. Hopefully, word will spread quickly throughout the Bike Week crowd, as one can only eat fried dough and sausage, onions and peppers for so long. :)

We had Tavern 27 targeted for Memorial weekend, but my wife was sick the whole weekend. It sounds like this may be a tough place to get a table at - small, comfortable but with exceptional food.

I understand how difficult it is to predict how long a meal takes. Tapas is a bit slower and more enjoyable. The small portioned entrees are usually served one at a time.

My wife and I went there a couple of weeks ago and it was real busy. So the proprietor sat us with two other couples and we had a very enjoyable evening of food and merriment with new found friends.

A couple of days ago I had an 11 course tapas sampler dinner in Copenhagen. It was an all night event. The food and sangria just kept coming!

Perhaps a sampler of some of the most popular dishes would be great for people unfamiliar with tapas.

My wife and I had a similar experience a couple days ago. It was raining very hard when we arrived. Just as we were about to debate wheather or not to wait for the rain to let up a man came to my wife's door with a large umbrella. He escorted us to the front door and back to the car when we finisihed eating. The food was incredible and the service was beyond my imagination. The staff even racks the balls for pool. Who does this any more?

My wife and I went this past Thursday night to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and they lived up to the hype lol the food was excellent the service was great and the personal touch was much appreciated. The owner gave us a bee’s wax candle with a happy anniversary flag on it. They also would not let us leave with out trying there apple dessert on the house. We eat out often at the lake and I don’t mind spending money on good quality food and they hit it on the head. The best meal I have had at the lake!! Next time we are leaving the baby at home and bringing some friends for a fun night out.

My wife and I finally went to Tavern 27 on the 4th. We had 5 items from the menu, which all ranked from good to excellent. The pork loin was exceptionally tasty:liplick: The house Cabernet paired well with everything we had.

Service was great and the owner Raymond stopped at our table to chat. We will definately go back.

Our experience was almost exactly that of Shore Driver.

The atmosphere is welcoming and most pleasant. The staff is young but very well trained and accommodating. The menu has a wide variety of choices and the spicy dishes are spicy, a rarity in the Lakes region. Pizzas and sandwiches are available for the somewhat less adventurous.

The prices are somewhat high but are a good value for the quality of the food. Some of the prices for the small plates probably could use some tweaking although I do appreciate how difficult pricing is. For example, grilled shrimp with tequila sauce...excellent but $10 for 2 shrimp is a bit up there. In comparison, Woodshed gets $2.99 per shrimp for an excellent shrimp cocktail with excellent cocktail sauce. It is a quibble, but folks are very sensitive to prices. On the other hand, the sea food fry with shrimp,haddock,calamari and the largest diver scallop I have ever seen had three different sauces and was $16.

We did chat with Ray at the end of of the meal and he is clearly obsessed with producing a first rate restaurant in this area. Considering the large number of people in the restaurant on a Thursday night, his plan seems to be working.

We wish him luck and expect to return soon (and you should consider trying it also.)

Thank you very much for the favorable review. I'd like to share a couple facts that should help you grow comfortable with our pricing structure. First; a great deal of the ingredients we use are farm to table fresh. This costs a little more. Second; We don't farm the shrimp however our cocktail sauce contains a generous amount of premium tequila. The shrimp actually only represent about $3.01 each in the price.

My husband and I made the 2nd trip to Tavern 27 and I'm delighted to report another terrific meal. The lobster Cuke wrap is AMAZING! Tavern 27 is a welcome addition for us locals as they serve some of the best food in the lakes region.

We went to the Tavern 27 this Friday. It was a little empty except for the bar. The atmosphere was classic and cozy. The Air Conditioning was weak...too warm and humid. The menu looked great; we order a few apps & salads. The sizes were WAY too small for the money. Tappas or not, it was way to small of sizes. The main course was POOR. The Duck was dry, it was basically a leg, not much of a meal...the scallop special had 2 scallops and 2 little mounds of mashed potatoes!! 4 bites finished this main course...rip off!! My filet Mignon special was over cooked, small and dry...we spent over $300 for out group of 5...not worth the money at all! This place is over rated, over priced, over cooked, and underserved.... the quality was poor, the service was odd...the temp. was too warm...we will not be comming back. please take warning!:(

Fabulous lunch today at Tavern 27. Delectable food served by an attentive, professional staff. What a great addition to our area.

My wife and I had a very nice, relaxing lunch here on Saturday. The menu is extensive and interesting to read - which also implies there are lots of choices - so we asked questions of our server who was very helpful. We finally settled on 3 tapas dishes: Haddock Bites, Forager Rolls and Spicy Pork. Now, the tapas dishes are not large, but interestingly prepared and served one-at-a-time, giving the chance to enjoy each one. The haddock (4 pieces) was my favorite in its "flash-fried" rice-cracker coating with their own tartar sauce. The forager rolls, oh yeah, were mushroom spring rolls prepared 2 ways (how do you do that?), 2 fried, 2 steamed with 2 dipping sauces. The spicy pork I was less thrilled with, but it was still good. A bit more than I usually spend for lunch, but we enjoyed it. Looking at the "full-plate" prices for dinners did not look too expensive.

We wish them much success. Being South-Downers we miss the Stone House and would definitely go back here for dinner.

We had dinner at Tavern27 Saturday night, took the golf cart over from SDS.

3 drinks, 5 or 6 different tapas plates, 2 deserts, tax and tip came to about $120, and was worth every penny.

All the dishes were awesome and very unique. I'd probably rate Tavern27 as one of the top dining choices in the Lakes region based on my personal experiences over the last couple of years. What I liked about it is that not only was the food very good, it is really nice to see Ray out working the floor. He maintained the right balance of stopping to check in on each table, without being a nuisance about it (think of Artie Bucco on the Sopranos). I personally have had the most enjoyable overall meals at privately owned places where at least one of the owners comes out of the kitchen and works the floor to ensure that the dining experience is going well for the customers.

The rest of the staff was attentive as well, filling glasses and clearing plates efficiently, without rushing you.

I must say that the praise for your place has been consistently good (there are always one or 2 exceptions) and us forumites can be tough graders at times. You seem to have done something special with your establishment in a down economy and are to be commended.

We tried it for our anniversary tonight (and now I'm back at work - no fair!!). It was great. Worth all the praise. We started with a small salad and a cup of soup (plus the complimentary crostini with bean dip) and then shared 4 tapas dishes (mushroom crostini, artichokes with goat's cheese and candied nuts, chicken pate in pastry cones and duck spring rolls) and 2 desserts. All were wonderful. Well prepared, fresh ingredients and inventive. We would consider this a special occassion place and definitely not someplace we'd bring our 6 year old. I hope they do well. I plan to return.

My son, his wife and I had lunch there, and it was great.

POULET PATÉ EN CONES, CHICKPEA FRIES, SPICY PORK TENDERLOIN, a grilled chicken poor boy, and one I don't see on the menu: 4 little egg rolls filled with mushrooms, 2 baked, 2 boiled.

Delicious!

Not cheap, but well worth it.

I also found the decor to be nearly stunning in its elegant simplicity.

Everything worked.
