Good job Mr. Nix

An excellent letter to the editor of The Sun in today's issue:

http://www.laconiadailysun.com/story/dave-nix-8-28

Mr. Nix hits the nail on the head. No matter what the oppositions states, their primary motive for the speed limit was to eliminate so-called "performance boats" from the lake. They operated under the cloak of "safety", but time and time again it's been proven that there never was (nor is there now) a safety problem on Lake Winnipesaukee that's being caused by performance boats. Are there safety issues? Yes, without a doubt. There's the safety issue of the majority of boaters not paying attention to the Safe Passage Law. There's the issue of PWC operators changing direction at a moment's notice without looking around. There's the issue of Mr. Griswold's bow-rider loaded with people, pulling a tube with more than two people on it. There's the issue of a renter being able to pass a 10-question "quiz" (given by the renting marina) allowing the renter to operate a vessel with unlimited horsepower - all without a bonafide Boater Education Certificate. And the list goes on and on.

The attempt to make Barber's Pole a no-wake zone is a perfect example of the speed-limit lobby's further attempts to choke down free passage on the lake. One of Winnfabs' most vocal members, Mr. Bill Berthold, was quite vocal on the Barber Pole NWZ. Since the speed limit can't solve a problem that did not (and does not) exist, performance boats are still happily plying the great waters of the lake. Now the speed limit lobby must resort to new tactics and try to impose "speedbumps" (a/k/a No Wake Zones) as a way to impede free passage on the lake. Thankfully, the experts at the Department of Safety saw this attempt for what it really was and flushed it down the toilet where it belongs. Unfortunately, the legislature opted to take the path of least resistance and vote for this feel-good, nanny state legislation. It will take time but this ridiculous speed limit will sooner or later be repealed. Meanwhile, I'll take my GFBL boat to Winnisquam, Newfound, Sunapee or a dozen other (much smaller) lakes in the State where I can operate at 46 mph without breaking the law. Ironic, huh?

I hope this is a promise.

Because I have a Formula, all I have to do use cruise by a Winnfabs residence and instantly have the MP on my butt. Since they clock me at 25-30 mph and I show them the maximum speed on my GPS at less than 40 mph. The only thing the MP can do is say 'be careful where you cruise'? It's like saying they own the lake in front of their property! I will cruise anywhere I see fit.

There are alot of performance boats still on the lake that have no intention of leaving. Its a beautiful destination and big enough for everyone.

Not a prayer in hell. This was clearly tongue-in-cheek, but you can hide in the bed with the sheets pulled up and wish all you want. I'm not going anywhere. PS: Hey Evelyn....I'm still mad as hell :fire: and I'm still not going to take it anymore! By the way...you're not very nice calling me "whacky". At least I have a life, which apparently is more than you can say!

I'm not going anywhere, in spite of all the safe passage and NWZ violators! :D

APS/MOT: I can assure you that I am not Mr. Nix, nor do I know Mr. Nix. Sorry to blow your conspiracy theory. :rolleye2:

When launching my performace boat at Glendale on Saturday I was surprised on how many compliments I received. The overall vibe was positive. When asked how has it goes, the answer is simple.

45mph

Wrong again, Mr. Phantom. Man the brain trust is failing miserably. Go back to school!

Are you lurking over at that God awful Wolfeboro forum and then posting here with answers to Phantom's posts?

No longer "lurking", Rusty. I'm now a bonafide "poster". We do agree on one thing though - it is "GOD AWFUL"! But that's OK, I intend to spend most of my time here on the Winni Forum, where the intelligence level is exponentially higher. :)

Watch out for the "Wolf"

Did they treat you well?

People who go over there without knowing what they are getting into might find it dangerous, daring, or of uncertain outcome and then wish that they hadn't ventured into the "Wolf" kingdom.

I'm an expert at swimming in shark infested waters. Kind of like skydiving and flying, it's quite thrilling. :coolsm:

You're not such a bad guy after all.

Come to think of it, I don't think that I'm as bad as some people think either.

You're not a bad guy either. Hey, we can agree to disagree, that's no problem.
