Calling the bird experts...

Can anyone of you bird experts tell me what this chick is? It's about the size of a large pigeon and fell out of a nest just minutes ago...

I'd say a Woodcock.

The beaks hard to see,but doesn't look like a woodcock, + they wouldn't be in the tree. Baby's are tough to ID. The bill looks like a small gull, but slimmer.

Woodcocks

Woodcocks nest on the ground. Never saw them nest in trees.

Blue Thunder probably mistakenly thought it fell from a tree. I'm almost certain it is a juvenile Woodcock.

I'm told it was witnessed falling from a large nest in a tree. It's a hawk chick.

It is a Hawk and it appears to be a Cooper's Hawk but I am not 100% sure.

Has to be a hawk, downy with a slightly curved beak. I haven't seen a Woodcock in a while but I think the bill is straight and aprox 3".

Agreed on the hawk.

And the verdict is....

So, now that we've resolved its identity, the next question begs to be asked: what happened to the poor thing????
