Wake The Lake Street Party

About one block will be closed for a street party. Just like Key West, only different! :)

From the Laconia Daily Sun:

“Wake the Lake” will take place May 10, 11 and 12, and will feature three days of live bands and DJs, performing on three stages. Biketemberfest was a success so local business people are trying to build on that concept.

Not a bad idea to draw more people to the area before the season starts memorial day weekend. I hope the businesses in Lakeside have a prosperous weekend.

Great idea. For those who went to Biketemberfest, where were the bands set up and where was parking?

Lake Street was closed off in the area of Tower Hill and for about 300 yards North past the Compass Cafe.

The bands were on a trailer provided by Miles Marine and located across the street from Crazy Gringo's and behind the Weathervane.

The regular parking was available along the street near the Mount Washington docks.

Ah, I envisioned more was closed further down like bike week. Sounds pretty cool!

Wake the Lake

We went by boat last fall and plenty of docking space.
I suspect the same will apply for this time of year as well.
Fun times and all the local businesses were packed.
Boat was in last week, so weather permitting, we'll go by boat again.

Had a blast there at Biketoberfest. Everyone was being adult, no fights, many laughs. Also went by boat.

Did anyone go, how was it? I know the weather on Friday was crappy but the rest of the weekend was ok.

I was going to go but my wife and I got caught up in yard work all day and completely forgot about it.

I thought it was last weekend. I guess I'm not paying attention.

Parking

During the last weekend they did this it was packed, wonder if all the metered spots will get filled early again ?

I don't think it was publicized as well this year as it was last. This is the first I have heard about it this year. Am I wrong?

Friday Night

Not the crowd I was expecting. Perhaps dampened by the weather. Michael Vincent Band was the highlight of the night! A must see for the blues enthusiast.

They was a lot of howling ear piercing sound from Tower Hillside, so I did not venture.

The Dive was packed! Only two patio heaters? Come on! Everyone was huddled around the three firepits trying to keep warm.

Left after MVB. Hopefully have a better crowd today.

Sunflowers in Laconia is having a street fair. Tangers in Tilton is having a street truck festival this afternoon and finally Wake the Lake! Who says there is nothing to do?????

TiltonBB 05-11-2019 08:41 AM

The Broken Spoke Saloon is having a big event today too.

At 1 PM the Dirty Look Band is playing. They are having a pig roast at 2 PM and a motorcycle stunt show at 3 PM.

With the decent weather it may draw a pretty good crowd. People may go to both Wake the Lake and The Broken Spoke Saloon but it just means more people in the area spending money. Great for the local economy.

joey2665 05-11-2019 08:57 AM

WOW!!!! Really wish I was there this weekend I would love to go to Wake the Lake, Tangers and Broken Spoke. Dam kids travel hockey :rolleye1::laugh:

Rinkerguy 05-12-2019 07:44 AM

Stopped by awake the Lake yesterday afternoon. Good crowd, caught the end of 1 band. Unfortunately a couple hour gap before the next band. So nothing to listen to so we bailed.
Overall about 1/2 biker crowd, 1/2 everyone else. Well behaved, with no issues that we saw

Biggd 05-12-2019 04:52 PM

I think they woke the black flies.

Blues on the Beach

It is nice to see the efforts of local businesses to increase activity, especially in the off season.

On Monday night, the City Council approved a request by Anthony Santagate, the owner of the Tower Hill Tavern, to hold the Laconia Blues Festival on the beach on Saturday, Sept. 21.

That sounds like a very cool event! Love the local businesses are making a real effort to extend the season.

Laconia Blues Festival ?! Already marked my calendar.

thinkxingu 05-16-2019 01:28 PM

Definitely has potential. We'll see who gets booked, but it could be cool to go local for some acts. Concert pricing has significant curtailed my event attendance, and that would motivate me!
