WTB Aluminum with trailer

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone have a salmon/trout trolling rig for sale?
Looking for a 17-18’ aluminum in excellent condition with canvas protection from wind and weather. Prefer newer rather than older (2008 and up)
Something light and trailerable similar to this:

Also (just being nosey)where was the photo taken?

At the boat show next to the jet skis!

The photo is from a craigslist ad that Greene’s Marine in Hooksett has posted along with all their current for sale inventory. I would go that route but at $36k+
I’ll keep looking “pre-owned”

When I was a kid, my father would take ANY shortcut to reduce time off of the 6-6 1/2 hour ride to the lake.
The Hooksett toll was $.25 coming up the highway. If you were "Getting off at Hooksett", it was $.10
Traveling down around/over? the old train bridge, and by Robie's Store, we would go up (I think I remember) Granite Street. Almost no homes on Granite- came out to route 3A. Taking a left on 3A, Greene's Marine was on the left- with a USAF jet fighter sitting out in front of the place! This was the first sign that we were getting near.
Rumor had it that, back around that time, Guy Lombardo used to run a BIG performance boat on the lake!
And, yes, I could catch a lot of craw-fish to sell as bait! (Ouch!)

Look on craigslist, especially in Maine, and Vermont where these boats are more popular..... I see them advertised all the time....

Melvin Village Marina has, or likely still has a 2013 (bought new 2015) Crestliner 17.5 ft alum vee hull with 2 stroke 115 hp & full canvas and 3 depth/gps listed for 19.9 k. Nice seats too (4). Canvas never used. Ask how I know ;)

kawishiwi 03-23-2020 09:55 PM

Starcraft was a good boat

Had a smaller Starcraft before the Crestliner. It was a very sturdy boat.

Craigslist has a white 18' Lund fisherman adventure 2001 with a Merc 115 efi 4-stroke and a Merc 15 4-stroke kicker with electric down-riggers, windshield, bimini top, fish-finder, boat cover, 3-seats and a galv trailer w/ spare tire in Maynard, Mass ........... for $6500.

It looks like a winner ..... probably well maintained ............. 503 hours ....... and it just got posted three hours ago.

Doesn't say if it was stored in a garage?

FLL...if you could please post a link to that boat...I searched and searched but gave up being able to find it. I searched CL Boston and NH

TiltonBB 03-26-2020 10:14 AM

Lunds for sale. I'm not sure if this includes the same boat FLL referred to.

https://boston.craigslist.org/search...gth_overall=18

Hillcountry 03-26-2020 02:59 PM

I am thinking FLL made that post up...or the seller sold it in record time (hours)
And he is not responding to request for the link...:rolleye2:

fatlazyless 03-26-2020 07:09 PM

When I went back to that post to double check the 503-hours number, at about 10:45 or so, the ad was no longer there. So, the ad had maybe four or five good photos and was present from like 10-10:45, last night, and then it disappeared.

It had two Scotty electric down-riggers and an unused fourth seat holder probably to make room for using the down-riggers, and a full windshield with a walk-through center door section.
............

Not knowing anything about why it was removed just creates a big question on it?

Who knows ...... is possible he got so many responses that he removed the ad ...... or maybe he will wait a week and re-post at a price two thousand dollars higher ..... or maybe he wants to keep it?

It looked in very good shape from the good quality photos and his ad comments were well written. It immediately caught my attention as an 18' bright white, aluminum Lund. Think the interior was gray? And coming from Maynard, Mass, is it a fresh water or a salt water boat?

JEEPONLY 03-30-2020 02:24 PM

Sometimes we'd stop at Robies Store and get the rock solid ice cream bars that came in just a paper sleeve (wish I could remember the make).

Eventually, some would end up on the floor in the back seat (think- yelling from the front seat :D)!

Thanks! I had seen that and the side console makes a full canvas arrangement less plausible...therefore the need for a full windshield arrangement.

dt5150 04-03-2020 08:27 AM

what is your budget range? this one is a bit over priced in my opinion, and a bit under powered, but these fishmasters are highly prized trolling boats.

I've probably looked at that one a dozen times...

It's more of a situation of "when I see it, I will know"
As I said before I am picky and want something "turn key" so even though the older boats may be adequate, they don't meet my criteria for "turn key" as I see it. Budget is not the only deciding factor as I can afford something nice but am looking for that special deal that is "out there somewhere." This gives me the advantage of not being in any hurry and not worrying if I miss out on fishing in the meantime.

Some of the older boats I have seem for sale on Craigslist have newer outboards on them.

Four stroke motors, especially the first generation, are heavier than the two stroke models that were originally installed.

Choosing to install the same horse power means more weight.

Right or wrong, there is a perception that a replacement 75hp four stroke motor does not provide the same power as the 75hp two stroke motor it replaces.

Some owners have chosen to install a motor with more hp to try to keep the performance the same.

That can add even more weight.

This can lead to trouble!

1) More weight on the transom can cause handling and self bailing issues.
2) An older boat may have compromised wood in the transom leading to flexing and or failure.

Most motor mfg's use a common chassis for a series of motors with different hp ratings.

For example, a 90hp and a 115hp may share the same chassis and therefore almost the same weight.

It is wise to learn where the target hp fits in to this scheme.

Do you want a "light" 115hp or the "heavy" 90hp?

There is also the pesky detail of the USCG limitations placcard.

Boats that are designed from the start to accommodate the heavier four stroke motor should not have these issues.

Yup...seen those too! If you are looking “for me” no need as I have seen everything in the northeast at this point and am branching out to down the east coast...probably won’t move on anything until all this crap settles down anyway.
Thank you!

look west. ny, pa, ill, mich etc. that's where my boat came from, just outside of chicago. had it delivered. and if you settle on one or two makes/models, you can use searchtempest to search all of craigslist by regions. just plug in what you're looking for and it'll search all states.

Thanks...I’m looking pretty much everywhere, finger lakes, Champlain, etc.
I think I have even discovered a “phantom” poster that is posting ads for boats he/she does not own.
I have tried to contact the poster but they never respond. I have no idea why they do things like this?? What do they gain by making fraudulent ads?
Puzzles me.
When I google the post the pics the poster is using pop up in other places...I don’t get it. There are scam posters all over CL but I don’t “get” how they think they can sell something they don’t own...

dt5150 04-06-2020 11:02 AM

they do that to get your email address

Yes...I should have known that. A big reason that I use a “junk” email address for all CL correspondence.

I have a 2009 sylvan pro sport 19. Always used on Winni, merrymeeting, Ossipee. Downriggers and equipped for fishing. 140 HP Suzuki. If interested in seeing it, it is stored indoors in New Durham. I will provide more info on request.

Please contact me.

Thank you.

What does "junk" email mean?
I get that you probably don't want trolls or mean people getting into your actual email- but if the "junk" is still coming out of your computer, can't they mess with you anyway?

It's the one that i don't care about getting spam on...mostly all deleted before opening unless it's a valid response. When I establish that there's a real person on the other end, I go to my other emails.
