Where to Stay When We Visit in March

Hi Everybody,
We are making plans to come visit in early March and were hoping the forum members could recommend a nice place for us to stay . By nice, I mean clean and cozy, not Church Landing luxury. We are staying for 3 nights on a long weekend and are hoping to spend under $500 for lodging. Inns, B&Bs, hotels.
(An in-room fireplace would be nice.)

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

I've never stayed at these places, but maybe others have. I found these webpages on the Lodging links site.

Good luck and have fun,
Rose

Perhaps the Lake Opechee Inn and Spa would provide what you seek...

"Tranquil Season" rates start at $159.

I Second The TuckerNuck...

I've stayed there a few times and it's reasonable and very nice. Great way to experience Meredith too.
:D

Man, those all are super looking places for one to put their head on a pillow. You all did a http://i34.tinypic.com/2q0t5di.gif job suggesting locations.:)

Belknap Point Hotel

Great view, and very reasonable prices. The owners, Elaine and Harry, are just wonderful people!

I'm rooting for the Ballard House. They did an amazing job of renovating what was once a sorry spectacle. The views off the back of the house must be amazing.

I called this inn and they have a very nice room with fireplace for about the cost we were hoping for. It looks like it's in a good central area to house hunt from.

I'm checking out the other recommendations. THANK YOU everyone for your ideas. Incredibly helpful :D

We know many people who have stayed at the Lighthouse Inn B&B and really love it. I'm assuming they're open year-round but only know people who've stayed there in the summer.

Inns at Mill Falls

Of the four Inns at Mill Falls, the oldest, original Inn has a lot of personality and is right in Meredith within walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. and I know that Meredith is one community you're thinking about looking at. If you check their web site they always have a monthly special to offer, in the e-newsletter, "The Innsider". At any rate, it's much cheaper than their Church Landing property....and you'd still be able to go over there and use the indoor / outdoor pool, etc.

When you mentioned the fireplace in your first post, this place came to mind immediately. It's very well-run, and has the most wonderful rooms, and interesting spaces. The spa there is also quite nice, if you feel the need for a relaxing massage after your long drive!

I stayed at the Tuckernuck Inn on Nantucket for my Honeymoon of my first marriage. Thanks a lot for reminding me......:(

Probably would not be crowded in March and you could just drive up and look at the area and pick a place to stay. I can see you are a detail person but you may even want to stay in more than one area.
