Barber shop in meredith

I am trying to remember the name of the old barber shop in meredith. They were 2 brothers who owned and ran it for years. They had a collection of unusual artifacts on display in the shop. I always found the place fascinating. Can someone help me out?

I can't believe no one remembers the old meredith barbershop. Am I that old? The place was almost like a museum. The 2 brothers that owned it had a really impressive collection of all sorts of unusual items on display. l like to think the stuff was donated somewhere. Maybe the historical society? Can anyone shed some light ?

Coltgov101, I remember the barbershop, I can't remember the name, I'll work on the memory, it might come to me. I think it was on Main St. in the early seventies across from the police station, and the bait shop. There was a beauty salon next to it, I can't remember the name but after reading this maybe somebody will help you out in with the ID. I worked for Meredith PD at the time and got my haircuts there.

If my memory serves me right. I went in at the age of 9 and told him I wanted a haircut that would make me look like a "hippie"....he said drop your quarters on the counter and head right out the door. The back room was just like a small museum. Of course back then I didn't truly appreciate what he had in his collection.

You are right! I think they were the allen bros. Thank you for jogging my memory. I never thought much of the artifacts at the time either. I can't even remember what they were.

I think they were american Indian artifacts, but I'm really not sure. The stuff was impressive looking whatever it was. It was displayed so well I thought it had to be important. I guess I was 10 or 12 years old. Yes, it was the Allen bros.
