40-45' wreck in Paugus
Neat old vessel-never seen anything quite like it in terms of design; Very high sides, deep hold. Prob. gas-powered but not sure. Enough room for steam engine; I hand-measured it along the gunwhale which is curved of course and it came out at about 45 feet.

I was wondering, do you often find names on these old boats? Can the paint last that long underwater? Was it even a trend to name personal boats back then, like it is now?

Very cool!
Thanks for sharing, that is amazing! Did you stumble upon it or know it was there ahead of time? How deep was it there? How old do you think it is?

Names: Most were named;
Paint: Can stay in place a long time but is chalky or simply flakes off when touched; Depth: Won't say; Age: I estimate this was built in the 1800's or early 1900's at the latest; It is old by any measure; I have scanned other sections of Paugus and this area was on the list; I suppose you could say I stumbled on it but I found it because I finally got to this area so it was only a matter of time. |

Bow shot.
I would really like to know the name of this vessel but as with all of them I've found to date, nothing. Too far gone. Noting the rust line, this one is unusual in that the keel at the bow was lined with steel or iron. |

The attached sonar image, while crude, shows 4 Paugus wrecks total, with 3 other wrecks adjacent to the one found here that has the video clip I posted awhile ago.
The attached clip is also rough as I'm not that good with the camera but getting better. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/JGfVULjxFIE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://youtu.be/JGfVULjxFIE |
Red Filter On Camera
Wow! The red filter on your camera makes a huge difference in eliminating the greenish color of the water.
