Mount Washington from Gilford

Snow on Mt. Washington! Taken today from Lincoln Park in Gilford!
Not a great image because this was really cropped to make the Observatory visable. Attachment 10065 Attachment 10067 |
WOW! What size lense did you use?

If you use Google Earth and the "ruler" tool that is part of the program, the straightline measurment from Lincoln Park to the Mt. Washington Observatory is 49.17miles. give or take. |
I have that same exact size lense (Canon). I would have never thought you could see the observatory! I'm going to try it tomorrow. Thanks for posting.

Pardon my stupid question -- where is Lincoln Park?
(I am trying to estimate sight line) For some time I have been trying to discern which peak might be Mt Washington from essentially the Mountain View Yacht Club and can't quite be certain. Of course when I ask others -- each points in a totally different direction Now that you tipped me off to Google Earth my sight line would be essentially over the left edge of the Witches ? . |
It's on Belknap Point Road in Gilford. Easiest way to get there is to take the exit off RT11 that takes you down to Smith Cove and the Gilford Town Docks.
BUT, just after you come off Rt 11.. take a hard right.. don't go left to the Marine Patrol, Lyons Den Resturant and Gilford Town Docks ,turn Right off the exit, Lincoln Park is 1/2- 3/4 miles. |
Thus (from sitting here in MA) I presume that is Locke Isl. in your foreground ?
