Swim Rafts

What do folks do with swim rafts over the winter?

I'm thinking float it in and keep it on the beach.

Possibly tie a rope to the anchor chain and bring it to the shore so we can find it next spring.

Am I missing anything?

I use boat fenders or similar items to attach the chains, leave them floating in the water. That may not be something you want to do depending on boat traffic in your area.

As for the raft you'll need to drag it far enough up on the beach so that it doesn't float away during the high water days of spring. As an added precaution I would recommend tying the raft to a tree or something else that will keep it there if the water sets the raft adrift.

Lastly, if you don't have your name or a phone number on it, put them on there.

Get yourself some "sinking rope" for your anchor chain so you don't cause navigation issues in the late fall / spring and tie it off to a tree or similar on shore. The rope is cheap and works great! https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would definitely check whatever keeps your raft afloat to ensure all water is drained out so freezing wont crack or break anything.

Other than that you should be good to go!

Is "sinking rope"..... somehow related to "cement shoes"?

Nope, you are going to do exactly what I do now, floats have disappeared on me so now I use a nylon cord, attached to the chain and tied to the dock. It just lays on the bottom. Just make sure it has enough strength to pull up the chain in the spring. Be sure to push the raft up far enough on the beach so it doesn't float away in the spring, voice of experience here. I use my Jeep to pull it up the beach.

Done and done. Only lost one shackle. Just need to remember to buy one before we put it back out.
