A Piece of History
During the Shakedown Cruise one of the Mount's owners gave me this piece of the old engines in appreciation for all the support this site gives to the Mount. It is a little piece of history.

Here is a video, in 2 parts, of the comments made aboard the 2010 Shakedown Cruise including thanking several of the people who helped install the new engines and the certification of the ship for 2010.

Great job as usual RG and Don. Love that video of the presentation address.
RG are those new seat/tables on the open deck? I don't remember those. Don, I'll take a shot at a caption: Governor Lynch tries to preserve his postion in office. |
I was there too!
RG and Don: Boy, I wish we were all wearing name tags ... I would have loved to have met you both in person. If you look at RG's photo captioned "leaving the Weirs" that's my husband in the red jacket and me with the short grey hair... it was a fun cruise!
|
Thanks!
Wonderful thread! Thanks to RG and Don for sharing the event! Here's hoping the Mount enjoys a long and profitable summer season this year! :D
|
Virtual tour!
Such great pictures, all! I felt I was there! RG, as always, you never disappoint! I hope next year they let you steer it!! (Or whatever the correct nautical term is...navigate??) Sooo happy The Mount is alive and well!
|
Okay, who else was there?

It's hard to believe that I missed uploading a picture last night. http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...3-10_134-2.jpg Don, the Webmaster! |
Me at the Wheel
Quote:
A few years back I was allowed to take the wheel and navigate the Mount for a bit. When the Captain asked if I could see the witches up ahead and I responded, "no, not so much", he took the wheel back right fast! |
RG and Don, once again you both have delivered great photos and comments on an avent. Always appreciated. Thanks
|
Thank you to Rattlesnake Gal and Webmaster, and everyone else for making us feel like we were right there with you, I can say I am truely jealous
Oh by the way, were those Marine Patrol Boats (without lights on) and sometimes the Sof and Dorris more than 150 feet away during headway speed?:D |
What word would communicate more strongly than "jealous"? :liplick:
Thanks all for the pictures and reports. |
Great pictures and updates. Thanks to all!

Sharp Video!

Thanks for posting the video from the cruise. It was an historic Shakedown with the new engines. I just loved having the Doris E and Sophie C as our escorts. We have a lot to be proud of with such a fleet on our great lake. |
RG and Don, Thanks for doing such a great job documenting this occasion on the website. Certainly this is something historical for all of us with such a love of the lake.

These are great photos! Thanks very much for sharing the fun with us.
Question - what are all the canisters hanging off the sides of the engines for? |

How's the FNR working ?
IIRC along with the repower the Mount gained transmissions. I wonder how the crew are liking the fast changing btw forward, neutral and reverse ?
|
Thanks!
Great Thread, great pictures, great videos!
Thank you for sharing, I feel like I was there too! |
Rubber Mounts?
I saw those studs and thought the same thing as LP. I wonder if there's any isolation between the motor and the mounts. I would think that without rubber the ship would be a giant amplifier, especially if the motors were running at exactly the same speed.
By the way, the air filter looks like a giant K&N. Nice. |
Love this!

I hope everyone got as big a kick out of Rattlesnake Guy's thanking the Webmaster "for this useful post" as I did!! Happy shopping, Rattlesnake Gal!! You go for it!! |
I Would Love to do Videos too!

Wow. I am now wondering if part of the reason that the Webmaster started this site was for the photography and making a record of the happenings at the lake with the help of other photographers. I know I saw a post about the counting in the millions for photos and the emphasis on the information that should be given with each photo. Great idea to have a record of all of these happenings!! Thank you all very much.
I did not know that it was a public cruise and thought one had to have an invitation to take it. Was it open to the public or did everyone have to have an invitation and it was just being called a public cruise? The pictures are almost the same as being there though I took the Mount last year and it is really special. I guess the pictures were not really the same... but almost. They are great though! |
Winnipesaukee.com Rocks!

http://www.winnipesaukee.com/images/nlogo1.jpg I'm sure that sharing pictures of this great lake was one of the many reasons why Winnipesaukee.com was started. Did you know that this year will be the 15th Anniversary of Winnipesaukee.com? Congratulation Don! The site sure has evolved nicely over the years. http://homepage.mac.com/msmountwashi...mb_176_132.jpg The Shakedown Cruise is not open to the public. It is by invitation only. This Sunday is their historic first public cruise for Mother's Day. http://homepage.mac.com/msmountwashi...mb_140_105.jpg The menu looks pretty great and you know the scenery can't be beat! What mom wouldn't want to take a cruise with her family? Check out Mount Washington Cruises Mother's Day photo album here. |
