River diving-anyone?
Hi All,
As the weather often makes boat diving not the way to go I am planning more river dives locally-all shore dives no boat; I often go river diving when the weather doesn't cut it for boating because rain, high winds etc. don't matter in a river. I have 3 sites: Winni River downtown in Laconia, one site in Tilton, one in Franklin. It will be shallow (less than 40 feet I would expect except Laconia which is alot less). I hunt for old glass of any kind (liquor bottles, poison bottles, and inkwells, insulators, ceramic crocks-jugs). Guns are not unusual to find amongst other evidence of crime plus lots of stuff you'd never expect. Each dive I plan to do w/an aluminum 80-nothing unusual for you to do or bring except a mesh bag and your gear. If anyone wants to join me I plan on diving the next few days as long as the weather is sub-par. River diving can be very interesting. Email me at info@sonarsar.com HH |
I'm not a diver but I sure enjoy seeing videos of the local waters and pics of what they give up. :)

Lake Opechee
Just wondering if anyone explore Lake Opechee?
My grandfather worked at the Scott & Williams plant for many years. The current location of the Opechee Inn and Spa was the location of a plant that made carburetors during WWII. When the war was over, the govt no longer need the parts and S&W had to dispose pallets of carburetors. I was told S&W drag the pallets over the ice and sank them in the middle of the lake as there was no market or needs for them. I often wonder if there will be other large scale surplus or possible machinery in Opechee. Lots of industry along the Union Ave side, Lakport and Messer Street through the years. |
I wish I have seen this post earlier. Just the other day we were riding the Winni river trail and I was thinking that the area in Franklin by the rail road cars would be interesting to dive.
