Everybody loves speed boat races....Lake Winnipesaukee will always be having speed boat races.....no need to discontinue any motorboat races....there really have not been too many races for a few years or more
.....would be nice to get some race time out on the Big Lake...as you probably know, the laws now in place have a provision for holding motorboat racing...ah yes...the smell of two-stroke oil and a skater powered by twin 300 Merc 2-strokes buzz'n up & down the broads...

I am not for or against a speed limit. Could care less.....but I don't know that you could compare the situation on the lake today to what it was like 70-80 years ago. Were there long lines of boats trying to get through the Weirs channel in 1935?...or throngs of rafters in Braun Bay?

um....aren't there high speed boat races in Wolfeboro every other year? Is someone adbvocating that they be discontinued?

Todays concord monitor has a article about the up coming vote to make the speed law permenent. Interisting that only One speeding ticket had been Issued by the marine patrol. This Is a tottaly unneccesey law to make the fat cats feel good.

Gotta luv that photo of Downing's in Alton from the 1950's with the covered boat dock, and all that green grass area...believe the grassy area was paved asphalt to make it a parking lot...something the Shoreline Protection Act would frown on....but once it's paved it usually does not ever go back to grass....those were the days. Probably the white frame building at Downing's is still there but elongated...and so what's happening there at Downing's today?

Is the former Downing's now the Town of Alton's public boat launch?
