Milkweed Poem
Hi Everyone,
My aunt attended the Gilford Village Grade School circa 1913. She died about 10 years ago at age 95. She used to recite a poem about "milkweed babies" flying off into the wind. I believe the first line was, "Milkweed babies raise their heads". I found a poem called "Dainty Milkweed Babies" which is similar but it is not the one I remember. Wonder if anyone in the area may have any knowledge of this poem - perhaps it has been handed down through a couple generations. Chickie |

Chickie:
I would suggest contacting the THOMPSON-AMES HISTORICAL SOCIETY in Gilford to see if they may be of any assistance. McD PS - I found this on a POETRY FORUM but I have a feeling that you must be Phyl! |

You've blown my cover, McDude. Yes, Chickie and Phyl are one and the same. Thank you for your excellent suggestion. I will contact the historical society in Gilford. With a bit of luck, they may have old school books used during that time period. Trying to remember that poem has been driving me crazy. Hope I can find it.
