Sledding (non-motorized) locations

I stirred up a hornet's nest not realizing "sledding" is a common term for snowmobiling in a thread I had not realized was in a snowmobiling forum. So I'm going to try to start over....

Can anyone recommend places to go sledding (i.e. on a sled with runners) on the west or north side of the lake, where I will not be running into skiers or snowmobilers? I'm looking for a quiet place in nature - walk up the hill, sled down it, walk up again, etc. Needs to be public (or private with a person who doesn't mind visitors), not daredevil steep, with a leveling out at the bottom (i.e. - some way to end the ride without hitting a stone wall, etc.), and room for parking nearby.

I can wait for the snow - no artificial snow needed......

I think that you are forgiven. After all, this is a HUGE forum and for a comparative 'newbie', it can be a tough sled. :look:

Over the years, a great spot that provided enjoyment for many families, was on Elm ST. in Laconia at the Laconia Country Club where folks would bring the children to toboggan and sled to their hearts content.

However, too many of these local spots are being shut down and posted to detour liabilities.

Now, with the state of the economy, I would think that someone would look for sponsorship so as they could offer use of a portion of a facility, in an appropriate fashion to accommodate the public interests, year round!

I'm sure there are others whom can add to this.

Welcome to the forum! :)
