Broken Spoke
Broken Spoke has been closed since before bike week, anyone know what's happening?

Broken Spoke Website
Here's a link to the Broken Spoke website. FYI, when I googled the Laconia site, got "page not found".

The Laconia building formerly known as the Broken Spoke Saloon is under new ownership. That has already happened.
It will be opening soon with a new name and some improvements. Keno is being added and the event schedule is currently being updated. It should be a great stop and only improve on a winning formula. It will be a nice local restaurant/bar operated by a nice local family. |

I know the new name but I am not sure if it is definite. When I get that info I will post it. (Starts with: High Octane) :) |

Too big of a location for the area and supporting year round customer base in my opinion. Its a big nut just to turn the lights on. Except for bike week, can’t see it. Locals have their small watering holes they enjoy. If they move away from the biker bar and make it more family friendly, maybe

WinnisquamZ,
Prior to Covid, the Spoke had a banging business year 'round Thursday thru Sunday! They pretty much owned Thursday night karaoke! Once this crap calms down, I am sure it will return to form! Woodsy |

It is not like the business is a surprise and a new person is going in hoping for the best. The same family that has operated it 51 weeks a year for the past several years purchased it and will now operate it 52 weeks a year.
They already know what the recent numbers are and also have several good ideas to grow the business. They would not have purchased it without doing the math first. |

New deck over sidewalk and updating to the live music offered. Classing up the joint! Haha

The former Broken Spoke, now the High Octane Saloon, is finally ready to open.
All the licenses and permits are in hand, all the inspections have happened. It looks like New Years Eve day to open and they will remain open on New Years Eve. |
Congratulations. We all wish you nothing but success

Best of luck. I’m nice and close and will definitely give it a try.

Broken Spoke
Let's hope owners and patrons follow COVID protocol, otherwise, this could be a "spreader event".
|
Can’t we just wish a new local business good luck in these difficult times without throwing a damper on it before they even open.

I've always wanted to stop in, but it's never the right time and they never looked open. Good luck to the new owners—it looks like it has great potential.

I have known Andy for some time, both professionally and personally. He has invested a lot of time and money into properties and businesses around the area. As TBB noted, the Turner's have run this business 51/52 weeks for several years- they know what the business is. This is a win for the area!

anything
to do with High Octane Harley Davidson?

They are a nice, hard working family and I wish them well. Everything is still on schedule for a New Years Eve Day opening. |
Great News!
I wish them well and any open business in the Weirs area is a plus for the whole area. It brings people here who might not otherwise be in the neighborhood. Best of luck and we'll come visit after the rush of the re-opening dies down.

They should have renamed it to the "Mended Spoke".

It appears big plans are in the works...
This was in todays LDS...
The establishment, formerly known as the Broken Spoke, is seeking permission to build a 2,300-square-foot to its building at the corner of Route 3 and Watson Road, as well as a 5,000-square-foot pavilion, and install a 3,200-square-foot patio. |
Correct, 5,000 sq ft entertainment venue. Also paved parking

Stopped in on Saturday evening. Figured with the rain, and it was the night before Easter, it would be slow and we'd just stop in for watering and pub grub.
Wrong. It was packed, the band was awesome and we ended up staying until they stopped playing. :) |

The pavilion will have a stage and the plan is to have entertainment there. |

Tamarack...
I was thinking about what influence Broken Spoke may be having on the Tamarack Drive-In, right across the street. So I tried pulling up their web site and it was gone. Anyone know anything about the 'ole Tamarack? It's had it's ups-and-downs for decades, if not centuries.
|
It draws a different crowd.
It was one of the few places that I would go on that side of Laconia. But generally I stick to Laconia's South End. |
Lots of work going on at the old Boot Hill Saloon also.

Hopefully whomever buys those understands they bought across the street from a Roadhouse and don't try to change it all. Not sure what is going on at Sun Valley... other than it is under agreement. Woodsy |

Any idea what the old Faro is going to be? Been working there since last fall and still no sign. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

The High Octane saloon (Or the Spoke before it) has been there a long time and has every right to run a successful business. Building condos across the street makes about as much sense as building them next to an airport runway. But people do it...........And then complain about the noise! |
Residents vs Retail
From NH to FL, developers are having good success with residential development, whether apartments or condos. In mixed use development, the success of retail/commercial is minimal and developers are going back to the city and asking to reduce the retail/commercial component.

Everett will own most of that Lakeport property... so no business will do what he doesn't like.
