Major Marina for sale

Well, its easy to figure out who this may be. Major loss to the lake community.

my guess is Silver Sands

WinnisquamZ 10-24-2020 11:45 PM

Heard 3rd party the Silver Sands has had a standing offer for years from Marriot Properties if she ever wants to sell. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 13mil. Including the marina. The property is one of a kind

"This facility spans over 8 acres and has 15 modern buildings. Commercially zoned with city waters & sewer, total lake frontage is a generous 8,000 sq. ft."

8,000 "square feet" of lake frontage? Must be a new way to measure!

Picture is misleading.

And so is the year established. Unless the year is the date the current owner bought it. Silver Sands is a lot older than 1972.

Only 4 marinas come to mind that had new ownership since the '70s, Paugus Bay marina, Winni Marine, and Shep's Brown. Can't recall when Gilford Yacht Club became an owner's association but I can include that.

Why doesn't the listing just say where?

I would say they do not want customers to know until they have a deal. I did the same thing when I sold my business

Paugus Bay is a interesting take. With the new condos being built wondering if the seller is looking to grab someone interest.

Definitely Thurstons, the picture is just to throw folks off. EST 1972 is in their logo so that matches. The traffic count going by their front door in the summer is higher than any marina on the lake. It all adds up.

$4.6 Mil. For Silver Sands sounds way to cheap. That is a prime piece of real estate. I would also think their gross rev.$$ would be much higher
But...If this is the case I would think Irwin Marine would be all over it as they manage Mt View, next door.

GodSmile 10-25-2020 09:16 AM

not likely

Last time I checked Silver Sands did not have 6 boat houses.

Thurston’s

I know for a fact that Thurston’s is for sale.

For Thurston's, a long time Evinrude dealer, wonder if http://www.motorbiscuit.com/evinrude...t-of-business/ was an influence in their decision, or what? Is this a big deal or just a minor issue? How expensive or costly is it to start up as an outboard dealer? You got Mercury, Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Yamaha, and some others, and does Evinrude's demise also include Johnson Outboards demise, too? Is this a big issue or a tiny issue?

Helloooo www.parsun.us/outboard-motors/ ...... here's that hi-visibility American place to show and sell your motor ..... 4-stroke outboards, made in China!

Does Parsun make the 4-strokes for Mercury ...... anyone know?

Descant 10-25-2020 12:40 PM

Not Silver Sandsa

I'd guess Silver Sands could be sold for a lot more by going condo.

I was under the impression Tohatsu makes the smaller Mercury outboards and Mercury makes the bigger ones.

If the picture is correct, the only place I know that has that many sailboats is Fay's.

swnoel 10-26-2020 09:00 AM

https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1897...ve-Laconia-NH/ maybe not?

That picture is bogus ………… look at the "Ship" in the far distance & there appears to me a breakwater -- that is a stock photo of some Marina on the ocean.

It is Thurston's for certain. I've seen the packet on it. That's just a file photo.

There is no doubt that it is Thurston's... The last time I was in there, and talked with them, when I was looking for a part, It was easy to tell they where trying to hold on to the business, but ultimate also needed an avenue to retirement, which was going to involve selling off the business......

The problem sometimes with Family business is that when one generation is ready to retire, there is no way for the next generation to take over while still giving the current generation an avenue to a nice retirement that they desirve.

Now this is not fact, just presumption on my part.... But there is no doubt what is for sale is Thurston's......
