Rite Aid and Hannaford; starting Wednesday, January 2 at 8-am, Meredith will have two drugstores; the Rite Aid that has moved next door to the Family Dollar over on Route 3, and the Hannaford which presumably has expanded into the old Rite Aid space, or something like that!

Hannaford is offering a $10-off coupon on groceries when you transfer your prescription. Could be that Rite Aid has some similar deal, too?

I assume that Rite Aid still plans to move to a new location somewhere on RT 25

Does anyone know why Rite Aid moved? They've been in that plaza forever and it's a convenient location. Their current "new" building is not exactly satisfactory. They'll lose a lot of business to Hannafords just due to the convenience factor, in my opinion. I actually wish a CVS would move into that plaza.

I think the new location on Route 3 is temporary until their new building is completed on Route 25 between Irving plaza and Trinity Episcopal Church. What a nightmare for traffic trying to get to Center Harbor and Moultonboro!

Last I heard, the NH Dept of Transportation said "no-way buddy" to Rite Aid's application for a curb cut and entry driveway to their proposed new store on Route 25 just up the hill, and abutting the large Irving gas station-convenience store that is close to Dunkin Donuts. The NH-DOT suggested that a new Rite Aid share the Irving's entry driveway with Irving, however Irving has supposedly not responded back to any written requests from Rite Aid, probably because Irving and Rite Aid sell a number of similar products and Irving considers Rite Aid to be a competitor and therefore does not want to help them by saying yes to sharing the driveway.

And, the NH-DOT probably has a real concern that an entry-exit driveway at that spot on Route 25 would really mess up traffic big-time......like it woulda become a greatta bigga messy mess......and the NH-DOT knows a-besta.......don't-a-you-know-it.......capice!

Just maybe Rite Aid could build a new store on the former home to Meredith Ford.......like why not....and whatta difference do it all really make??

Rite Aid has unbelievably high prices on their overall non-prescription store items, and they have some crazy two-fer pricing system, and their who damn store is just a major pain......so a new Hannaford's pharmacy should do just fine anyway.....plus Hannaford's will be expanding into the vacant space between Rite Aid and Olympia Sports, and basically doubling their Hannaford's size, plus adding a pharmacy.

Would somebody please inform Rite Aid that the correct way to spell Rite is really supposed to be Right, and that rite is just a slang word or something!

Rite Aids lease ran out and when Hannaford moved in they wanted to put in a pharmacy. Rite aid had a non compete clause in their lease so Hannaford had an arrangement with the landlord that when Rite aids lease ran out it would not be renewed thus allowing Hannaford the ability to put in a pharmacy. hannaford will be taking over a portion of the rite aid space and adding to their current store. Most of the rest of the rite aid space is supposed to be removed creating two separate buildings ( hannaford is one, and Olympia sports and current vacant space the other) with a courtyard space between them. Rumor is that Aubuchons is going into the current vacant space.

The Hannaford sotre has set up a temporary Pharmacy in the adjacent building due to open 1/2, right after Rite Aid closes for good in the shopping center. As a side note there are some pretty strong rumors about some possible ownership changes with Hannaford so any future plans they have may change if those rumors turn out to be true.

It's true to Hannaford's. They have a pharmacy within their spaces in most locations. The Nutrition store moved to Main Street, as Hannafords would not renew their lease, which now has temporary pharmacy in that detached building. We assume Hannaford's will make lots alterations within the spaces.
We had not seen any plans for any open space where exists building, BUT we don't hear everything....

Hannaford's temporary pharmacy, located in the former nutrition store, does not have a lot, but they are filling prescriptions. There was an information table set up in Hannaford's on Friday, handing out literature with the deals. The person staffing the table said the new expanded Hannaford, with pharmacy, should be open by September.

New Rite Aid store was approved in Meredith on Rt 25

I understand they are proposing to put a pedestrian hybrid beacon in that area (also known as the High intensity Activated crossWalK or HAWK).

Pedestrian-activated warning device located on the roadside or on mast arms over midblock pedestrian crossings. The beacon head consists of two red lenses above a single yellow lens. The beacon head is "dark" until the pedestrian desires to cross the street. At this point, the pedestrian will push an easy to reach button that activates the beacon. After displaying brief flashing and steady yellow intervals, the device displays a steady red indication to drivers and a "WALK" indication to pedestrians, allowing them to cross a major roadway while traffic is stopped. After the pedestrian phase ends, the "WALK" indication changes to a flashing orange hand to notify pedestrians that their clearance time is ending. The hybrid beacon displays alternating flashing red lights to drivers while pedestrians finish their crossings before once again going dark at the conclusion of the cycle.

We don't go over there too often by boat, but we have seen a couple of accidents with cars stopping to let pedestrians cross at the crosswalk and being rear-ended by other drivers. (this without the crossing guards there, which we have seen a couple of times). It would give better warning to all drivers that traffic would be stopping for pedestrians.

They need a walk over foot bridge like they have a Patriots Place and all along the strip in Las Vegas. That way the cars can still keep moving.

Any elevated foot bridge would have to be ADA compliant, which would either mean long ramps (that take up a lot or real estate and are expensive) or some kind of elevator or lift system (which would also be very expensive). Unfortunately, there is no perfect solution. If there was, it would have already been done.

I thought the plan by the town docks was to have an actual tunnel under RT25.:confused:

Have you seen there tax rate? I would think they should be able to afford it. Yes and be ADA compliant as it would need that. Spend the money so it doesn't take 2 hours to get through their in the summer. Something needs to be done, it gets worst every year. Its not a perfect solution but its one that should be looked at.
