Ice Fishing Jigs?
 

Looking for some tips on jig color/patterns to use this winter. I've been fishing through the ice around Hanson cove for a few years without a ton of luck and would like to give a better effort this year.

I've mostly use live bait on tip ups but I'm thinking of trying some new tactics this year and the choice of jig styles is overwhelming. Any favorite jig combos that have been successful to others?

The Swedish Pimple jig has probably been used successfully more than all other jigs combined on the big lake over the years. I would start there....

I have ice fished on Winni for 40 Years. For me, The Swedish Pimple by far has been the the best jig for Lake Trout I have ever used. I haven't fished in a few years, however I Believe the Law says you have to use a SINGLE HOOK on any jig( No Treble Hooks). I usually used a Cut up piece of sucker and and jigged off the bottom in 20-40 feet of water. You can catch them deeper and you can catch them shallower, But 20-40ft is a great starting point.

If you're using any kind of bait on the hook it must be a single hook. If you're not using bait you can use a treble. Kinda foolish not to add bait however...The Swedish Pimple comes with both a single and treble hook for use...
