A Dunlin and 3 Long-billed Dowitchers

Today was a very good birding day for me. I went down to Opechee Bay in Laconia in front of the Opechee Inn and I saw a Dunlin in breeding plumage and 4 Long-billed Dowitchers all huddled together at the shoreline. Although the light was not very good, they were very approachable and I was able to get some decent images. Both species were firsts for me.:) Below are a few of the images I took there today.

Absolutely beautiful photos. They are so clear that you want to reach out and touch them. I wish my photos cam out that good. Thanks for sharing these gems for us to see.

Great Shots!

I never tried taking pictures of birds. Mostly sunsets etc. Looks like you need a lot of patience.

Thanks all and a friend who is an expert just told me that the Dowitchers are actually the Short-billed variety; not the Long-billed.

Great shots!

When I first looked I thought they were same species, male and female. After I went to the field guide to check the species I noted the differences. Congrats on adding to your life list. Great captures.

Excellent shots. I hope these pictures don't go to waste. Someday you might produce a small book about wildlife and birds of the Lakes region?
