Memorial Day Weekend

As caretaker for my uncle's property in West Alton, this weekend would mark the start of enjoying "summer at the cottage." From 1956 until it's sale in 2008 this was truly sanctuary.
Imbued with truly wonderful and endearing memories there isn't a day that goes by that I do not think about those wonderful times.
Hopefully the weather will provide a slice of what is to be summer 2022, monkeypox et all. Day trips will be marked by half-tank fill ups of the Donzi,
thank you very much Mr. Biden.

Be and stay safe.

I hope for an enjoyable holiday weekend. I, too, have fond memories of the heydays on the Lake, but that's what they are...memories. Times have certainly changed, but I think we can agree that it is what it is, and no one
individual is responsible for what lies ahead. That said... I hope all of us
count our blessings, embrace family and friends, and remember all of
those who have sacrificed all so that we can live freely. We're still the
greatest country on Earth, and nowhere else I'd rather be!:patriot:

An analyst was pointing out this morning that the Colonial Pipeline is full to the brink and would need the federal government to rescind/repeal, or at least waiver, the Jones Act.
She didn't feel this would happen as it was last tried just a few years ago.

Her thoughts, the analyst, was that President Biden may do something on heating oil and diesel this fall before the elections. That doing it right now would just trigger further consumption leading to higher inflation rates.

He did it during the period that the Colonial was hacked, so there is some precedent.

SO WHAT?!!!!
Gas prices in the US have doubled since Biden took office. He should own it and not blame Putin. Is there a law someplace that states that the US should be paying too much for fuel just because the people in London are paying too much?

John Mercier 05-27-2022 08:42 AM

As capitalists, we sell our product to the customer willing to pay the most... even if they are overseas.

No President actually controls the pricing.
When lumber quadrupled... we didn't blame the President - well, most didn't.

It’s remarkable how our last President was responsible for everything that went on during his administration and this President is not responsible for anything. Our current POTUS sat down the day after he was sworn in and signed everything that was put in front of him that would undo his predecessor’s work. I know the President does not directly control gas prices, but he does get to steer the ship we are all riding on right up on to the rock pile.

This is not the place for politics my apologies.

Hoping for a peaceful Memorial Day Weekend, and many thanks to the families of all who have given the ultimate sacrifice for us to be able to freely state our opinions.

Loved the article. Is anyone surprised a group of Senators didn’t know what they were opposing? Oh well!

On a brighter note - Thank you to all those who fight, and give their lives to give us the ability to argue with each other on this forum. My special thanks to “The Greatest Generation”, including my father, for their valor, bravery, and selflessness. God bless the men & women of our armed forces!

I remember a lot of complaints about high wood prices... or just lack of availability... but it never seemed to focus on the President except with the very few.
