Just wondering how much snow did Gunstock Acres get after this storm? Does anyone know if the snowmobile trails in Belknap are open again after this snowfall??

I can't speak to that side of the lake but Moultonborough got 5-6". Our trails are all open- we will be grooming tonight and tomorrow.

A half mile NW is Sandy Point and about a half mile of the lake, just under 2 in with a trace of ice on top.

I once had a one day a week part time job at Gunstock, Guest Ambassador (season pass etc). I normally directed traffic at the "pick up drop off" spot out front. After an overnight snow one task was to take a ruler and measure the new snow. Check all around to find to find the best result and round up to the next inch. But of course you all knew that.:liplick:


Oh we had 1 7/8 inches this morning here in West Alton which rounds up to 3"

I had to chuckle - that’s exactly how I became 6’8” on my college basketball program.

I used to punish myself as a daytripper. "Hey calling from Boston what are the conditions like"?
Cannon was notorious for telling the caller "1-3" new fresh powder all trails open
grooming in progress". Only because Cannon is what it is, (windy / cold) on the days the recording informed you the conditions were pristine you actually needed CCM Tacks.
The skis in the attack, (I have been away from the sport since kids) are Hexel
Competition (Honeycomb Core) 210 CM. Days of yore!

What's expected for Sunday?

I have seen 1-3 and change to all rain Sunday night In Meredith

There is so much old snow, piled up here, everywhere, like piles 10' high all over the place, and it seems that maybe the town's super-duper diesel powered sidewalk snowblower is broken or something because the five miles of sidewalks have not been getting done, lately. Someone needs to get out there with a shovel and broom and do the sidewalks! Shovels and brooms always work and never-ever break down like a snowblower!

4 - 5" in Gilmanton, starting to taper off. Suspect we'll end up with around 6". Nice to have a fresh blanket over all the sand as short lived as it will be.

You don't seem to have much to do other than post at 4:30 AM. Maybe you are THAT GUY who needs to go out with a shovel and broom to take care of the snow. Donate your seemingly endless free time to the community.

It looks over here on the hill in West Alton with 5.2" here which will round up to 7" down the road at Gunstock.

We were spared all winter here in Boston but we got hammered today with a foot!:(

I swear, March is the new January. I got 22" in northern Mass mid-March last year.

Well … lo and behold …. the town obviously must have read my post because as of today all the many sidewalks have been done. Not only the sidewalks, but also some shoulder areas, close to the hgwy fence, that usually never gets down. So, how about that …… am I good or what …. for gett'n those five miles of sidewalks done …… and, you are very welcome!

Say-hey …. talk'n about snow …. the Home Depot in Tilton has an Ariens Deluxe 28" selling for $550, reg price $1100, that they used all winter for doing the outdoor garden area. It looks basically like a new machine including perfect orange paint.

Anyone seen the relatively new Toro Snowmaster QXE, an $850 24" 120-lb, single stage machine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wj3KR91fM5U that's interesting because it weighs 80 to 100-lbs less than a similar two stage machine, probably making it easier to move it up or down 6-10" single steps on a walkway. Just doesn't seem the single stage auger/impeller will chop through a dense icy/snow mix, left by the town plow, close to the road, anywhere near as good as the standard two stage machine, plus it ain't a low price???

Is maybe good for the snow they get in Maryland, New Jersey, or Manchester, NH but once you get north of Concord, up here, you need a real snowblower with two stages for all the lakes region real snow!

For $600, or for $550 in the Lowe's September sale, you can get a TroyBilt Storm 2410, weighs 190-lbs, and is actually a durable and long life machine. I've had one now for like six years, doing the driveway and down and around my mega-million dollar mcmansion, and just this year had to replace the pull starter-$25, two skid plates-$20, and both the auger and drive belts-$25, but only because I didn't know about the easy-to-adjust auger/drive belt tension adjustments that's on the outside of the machine.
