The Paugus Bay Eagle

Taken on Wednesday 8/21 in the pouring rain. He seems to prefer this perch when it is raining out. One of these days I hope to see him when the weather and the lighting is much better.

"Headlines", Not So Much, Today...

I saw two mature Bald Eagles circling over Tuftonboro Neck yesterday—just before Noon. :)

Twenty years ago, that sighting would have made local headlines!

A few different times this summer, Route 93-Exit 26 in Plymouth NH had a bald eagle that flies maybe 200' up and goes across the interstate highway. This location is where the Smith River flows into the Pemigewasset River, and an eagle, maybe the same one, has been seen by me flying up and down both rivers probably looking for something to eat.

Could be it doesn't fly under the bridge that takes Rt 93 across the river there, and it prefers to go above the road?

Is there another Smith River? There is also a Smith River that runs along Route 104 between Bristol and Danbury that flows into the Pemi near Profile Falls in Bristol.

Here's the Rt 93-Exit 26 Baker River; with a small photo similar to how it looks close to Rt 93 in Plymouth.

There's a Wikipedia listing for the Baker R in Plymouth ..... will fix the link later on ...... can't get it working right now.

Okay... Baker River...you said Smith before.

I believe there's a covered bridge, maybe 20-years old, in Plymouth going over the Baker River that is named after a Smith, so it's the Smith Bridge over the Baker River ...... oh well.

Say hey....there's a new Market Basket under construction in Plymouth that's actually very close to the Baker River, so could be some good parking lot, litter food picking, for the local Plymouth bald eagles! Like why bother with the fish in the river, when there's easy trash pick'n at Market Basket. A new MB should get their attention.
