Lincoln Cottage rental in Gilford

A friend of ours recently stayed at the Lincoln Cottage, which is in Gilford on the lake close to the Belknap Point Inn. It is available for rent and there are still a few openings this summer. If you have boated past there, the boat house with the mirror goes with the house. It is a large old stone house (does not look like a cottage, more like a castle) that sleeps at least 5 people. Our friends loved the house and had a good experience with the owner. Check the listing at : https://www.vrbo.com/474595

We almost booked that for this summer for the annual family week. Does look like a great place with amazing views. Only real concerns we had were that there is a road that goes between the house and the water which for us was concerning, especially if you have kids (pictures don't show the road). We like to relax by a fire at the water's edge at night and try not to hear traffic. The second part is NO DOGS allowed. So if you want to bring the entire family this specific property will not work.

However, again i stress how unreal the views are and it does have a boathouse (although not sure if they allow you to use it or not).

Just trying to save a few people time in their search and what works best for their family :D:)

Probably best for adults only but worth a drive by to take a look.

I have been in that house and know Robert the owner. The house is amazing and pics on the web site are spot on. Robert is a nice guy and will treat you well.

Here's a nice clear picture I took back in 2006:

I agree about the road. A family reunion with young kids is a major concern.

Does say no pets, but Dogs Considered, in the listing

I was about to ask for this history of this house. I knew it was built by someone named Lincoln (also my last name) so I was always curious about it. My Dad knew nothing. Thanks for the information.

PS. My first name starts with V so that is doubly weird!

Fun thing to do with kids on your boat: Drive by and they can catch a glimpse of themselves from the reflection in the mirror that is in the boat house!

I never thought it was possible, until a friend showed me.
