Alpine Coaster to Open at Gunstock

As many of you may have heard, we are currently in the process of building a mountain coaster! The loading area will be behind the Adaptive building. The coaster will operate year round and be a welcome addition to our lengthy attraction list here at Gunstock Mountain Resort. We are aiming to have it up and running by July 2016.
The coaster will consist of two helixes and five bridges. There will be 40 cars with anti-collision systems built in. The track consists of 53 individual concrete footings that must be placed within a one inch tolerance on the X and Y axis in their strategic locations. Using current GPS technology, we can pinpoint exact locations up to a half an inch! …

Most importantly, what will Gunstock be charging to ride this attraction, the overall length of said attraction, and top speed? And yes I read the article but that doesn't mean I believe the facts. I also heard the project was delayed for July, is this true?

I thought I read $12 per ride.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I think $12 per ride is a very fair price for two helixes and five bridges. I'd pay $15 if it had a loop de loop.

Sounds Like Fun!

I think this will be a great addition to Gunstock and the area!!

Alpine Coaster to Open at Gunstock

I think this is a positive for Gunstock.

What kid camping there won't want to take a ride on this thing. Easier sell than the zipline which kids my be afraid of.

Quite a bit of mountains have coasters of done sort now a days.

Let's hope they give season pass holders a deal on rides.

Very interesting story and great news for the region. I have been on the Alpine Slide many times and love it.

Out of curiosity, OP, do you know how this ride gets cleared during the winter months so people can ride it? I have an image of a train engine "nose" plowing the track to clear it

Also, how does the track not heave/shift when this is a concern? "which consists of 53 individual concrete footings that had to be placed within a one inch tolerance on the X and Y axis in their strategic locations."

Us "old-timers" may remember the alpine slide that was at Gunstock back in the 80s (?)

Collision Control

Having collision control on the Gunstock ride is a big deal. The ride at Attitash is downright dangerous without it.

When our family camped at Gunstock many years ago, we used to ride that old slide every time we were up there. Get in your sled and ride to the bottom. I don't remember brakes or steering on them, but they sure were a fun ride.

Gunstock is awesome!

Hooray for Gunstock and those with the wisdom to make the investments they have made. Gunstock has become very popular with my family and is a quality addition to the Lakes Region! This new ride looks awesome.
