$300/22' sailboat & trailer .... roadside Holderness
A 1981 O'Day 22' sailboat and galvanized steel, custom trailer is priced with a hardware store, orange & black sign taped to the hull "For Sale $300, 603 968-7336."
Located in Holderness, along side Route 25, in front of Squam Lakes Assoc building ...... driving past yesterday ..... just had to make a u-turn, go back and check it all out. Believe this very same sailboat was in the same exact spot. 'bout three years ago with a sale price for $3000, and now it is priced at $300. Fiberglass hull with a cuddy cabin, all white with faded blue accent lines, 22' length, 7'2" wide, draft 23", 1800-lbs weight, sail area 196 sq ft ..... has a mostly flat bottom with a stubby short, permanent keel that extends down about 14" and assume is weighted heavy ..... it is a permanent keel that is designed into the fiberglass hull and is not a retractable centerboard www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbG4F1GrmOc .... is similar to this 1976 O'Day 22. Looks to be more of a de-mold, clean and wax, teak oil restoration than a repair type of a fix .... everything is all factory original including the very good, sailboat trailer ..... sails-no clue ...... assume it needs all new sails and a 15-hp sail outboard? "...... Squamie to self ...... let's just loose that old boat ..... it's ain't new & shiny ..... no more! ..... and besides, it's too big for Squam ..... that old boat belongs on Lake Winnipesaukee." |
You are always looking for a cheap deal and appear to have plenty of time to waste.
Go buy it. What's stopping you? |
You are totally, 100% correct, and it is unbelievable, incredibly tempting! Is a lot of sailboat ...... and definitely ...... my type of a price!
 ..... cheers! Do I have the room for a 22' sailboat on a nice trailer out on my driveway? You know, with one of those $40 electric, oil filled, 1500-watt, room heaters that looks like a small cast iron radiator and a 12-guage by 100' extension cord, one could camp out in that large cuddy cabin, out in the driveway, deep with January snow, and be dream'n about sailing it in July! |

... 100-yards up the road from the O'Day-22, also in front of Squam Lakes Assoc, there's a 2006 Hunter 17' sailboat that's all open with no cabin, just two long bench seats extending almost all 17' that was donated ...... price $4750 and probably trailer not included(?) ...... seems excellent cond
..... so's for $5050, you can get two sailboats, today, Saturday Oct 19! ...... $300 plus $4750 ......plus the trailer with the $300 boat looks like a $2500 galv sail trailer and it is included with the $300-price. A large family of eleven could all go sailing on scenic Lake Winnipesaukee, and fit in that beautiful Hunter-17 with those two long bench seats ..... or the varsity soccer team ..... or, maybe 29 Cuban boat people, all crammed-jammed on-board, and trying to escape-sail from Havana to Key West :patriot:, across 105-wild ocean miles ..... are we there yet? ....... where the h is Key West at 4-am? ……………………. Today is Oct 22 and both sailboats are still there, by the side of the road, in beautiful Holderness, at the Squam Lakes Association ……. for $300. that a very nice 22' sailboat and even nicer trailer. |
