Where did you get your Adirondack Chairs?

Mine have bit the dust and need to be replaced. Where did you get yours and what material would you recommend? I do NOT want molded plastic :)

thinkxingu 05-14-2019 05:08 PM

If I could afford them, I'd buy the Trex ones without a question.

I recommend the composite material. I purchased mine from the hearth store next to HK in Laconia

There are a few places in the Lakes Region that sell the composite ones which I would also recommend. Two places on 104 between 93 and Meredith. I have seen some wooden ones on Union Ave coming from Belmont into Laconia. We bought ours from the stove place near HK Power Sports.

chairs

I have six of the trex like material from Country Cottage on 104 in Meredith. We've had them about 5 years now. Heavy duty, large, heavy and I power wash them every year and they look like new. I have all white chairs but one of my friends bought dark gray. They get a bit warm on a sunny summer day.

Funny! The OP specified that he did not want the molded plastic chairs and all the posts are about how good they are.

I agree! My next set when I get tired of refinishing the wood ones will be the molded plastic. Costco has some nice ones. Two for $279.99.

From his post I thought he was referring to the cheap bendable PVC type which are molded. I. D.o.n.t consider the composite molded because they are screwed together

Exactly. To compare, we find the wrought iron swivel rockers more comfortable. Years old, but I think they came from Lowe's. $175? We also have resin Adirondacks from Lowe's. $25? Comfortable enough, but not long lasting.

www.cozycabinrustics.com in Meredith, at the big intersection, has some totally totally totally rustic Adirondack outdoor chairs.

Really nice store with beautiful furnishings but I find them extremely expensive

Purchased a nice cedar rocker from someone at the Alton Bay craft fair a few years back. Believe they are from Jackson NH

We have two that we got there a few years ago and plan to get some more. Very sturdy and comfortable. They are near the shore on the windward side of Welch and are heavy enough to never get blown over.

Make 'em yourself?

Over the past winter I have enjoyed making them myself, from red cedar. Two with natural finish, two painted white.

LL Bean a good choice

We got our chairs from LL Bean after being dissatisfied with how the ones from Plow and Hearth aged poorly. So far, the LL Bean chairs (made partially out of recycled plastic milk bottles) have held up very well (three years). They run about $225 unless you get them on sale (watch for their occasional 20% off sale). They are way better than the cheap $25 chairs and far more comfortable.

Wha...? Walmart doesn't have any?

Slainte 05-15-2019 11:57 AM

Where did you get your Adirondack chairs

Purchased 2 IPE chairs from Country Cottage on 104 about 8 years ago - they still look brand new! Love them!

fatlazyless 05-15-2019 12:59 PM

Walmart has some very comfy Adirondack style, sit back chairs, made from resin that can be left outdoors forever, in blue, gray, or black for about $12.94.

Perfect for attaching to two oldie moldy water skis and creating a water skiing, Adirondack chair that automatically gets you to sit back when the boat starts to pull you up.

Oh Oh, $199. Hunker down for a volley of triple A FLLack:D

fatlazyless 05-15-2019 08:08 PM

oh well ..... you usually get what you pay for ...... for some real nice Adirondack chairs, made with better materials and design ..... you probably don't go to Walmart ..... it's your money and your choice ...... it usually pays to shop around ..... best,

NHskier 05-15-2019 08:55 PM

We bought a set of folding Adirondack chairs, ottomans, and tables last year from an outfit in Iowa - Amish Made Poly. Simple minimal assembly, great quality, and you can custom-order color combinations. This year they have an Adirondack chair with a slide-out ottoman.

Location does contribute to enjoyment of Adirondack chairs.

Biggd 05-17-2019 08:12 AM

I buy the cheap $20 ones for down at the waterfront and just stack them when we leave on Sundays. My kids bought me 4 wooden ones for the around the fire pit at the house. I think they were $100 each. I'm not sure what kind of wood it is but it's not pine. I had some teak oil left from an old boat that had teak wood and gave them a once over.

We have 4 of these from them and love them. Very comfortable.

Was at Costco's last night and saw white PVC Adirondack chairs for $129.00, great deal! I think the same ones on line at Costco's are $179.00.

Possibly the Agway store in Belmont on Rt. 3. I saw some last year...wooden ones. Good luck!

MAXUM 06-03-2019 10:53 AM

Make them yourself. Not that hard!

So I went with a polywood product (contains recycled materials). The chairs won't rot, rust or need to be painted.....in my lifetime at least! $199 on-line only from Home Depot. What do you think? :look:

My kids bought us 4 wooden ones on line for our birthdays last year. I think they paid 100 each and I had to put them together. The Costco ones are much nicer and I'm sure they will last longer.

We bought these on Amazon - ECCB Outdoor Outer Banks Deluxe Oversized Poly Lumber Folding Adirondack Chair. $240 each.

Most important thing I recommend is a curved back. LL.Bean used to sell curved back Adirondack chairs, but for some reason they no longer have them.

SIKSUKR 06-27-2019 11:36 AM

Like the folding ones. Are the Home Depot ones stackable?
