Boating Uber / transport

Any boat Uber Service out there? Moultonboro ...harilla landing....less than 10 mins to destination drop area? Prob just my husband and I and our dog.

Trying to explore all options... 😀. If no such thing, anyone close by looking to make a few bucks ?

I dont have any confirmed dates, just wanted to know if the service or interest was there.

Thank you very much!

Full cycle

Years ago, many islanders didn't have boats and they relied on taxi boats. Goodhue Boat Yard operated several out of Glendale. Long gone. Now we're in need of similar service again, perhaps because of the high cost or low availability of mainland boat slips?
I'd use a taxi operating out of Glendale again, but my understanding is the Selectmen don't allow commercial boats there anymore.
Would there be interest in a "ride board" in the Classifieds?

Thank you very much fellow islander! There are times when we arrive earlier than others and instead of waiting, we were just wondering if there was an island Uber...heck that would be great!

You offer is very gracious...so much appreciate it.

Hitchhike

I think you can still hitch a ride from Glendale to the Gilford islands. When I was a teen this was true up til midnight, a little slower up to 2 am. There were hoards of island teens working at family restaurants etc. Close at 11 pm and or party and go home late. Some reverse for those of us who opened, stated the coffee at 6:00 am etc. Summer teen workers ran the lakes region and the owners came in an hour later.
In any event, it isn't Uber, but rides are available. Start a "Ride Bard" at your landing point!

Ride

Ok.. Just let us know if you need a ride or anything. I think we are 2 doors away.

I just read somewhere either here or on Facebook about a new company on the lake called lake life concierge that provides this service. Their website is lakelifeconcierge.com.

Interesting ……. and you must have seen it on FB as I never recall a post about it in here.

I wish them luck in their endeavor ………. what a cool way to spend the summer.

The Laconia Daily Sun had an article about this. It seems like they were reading this thread:

Periodically someone posts a note on the Winnipesaukee Forum message board inquiring if there is water taxi or Uber-type ride service on the lake.

Cool...Nice visibility to the Forum and to a need that folks have periodically.

I lived in Amsterdam a few years ago, and there were multiple startups for boat rideshares (more for tourists to cruise around than actual transportation). It actually worked well because it's €20-ish for an hour long canal cruise on the tourist boats, and fuel costs were minimal as it was no wake everywhere, so if you got 5-6 people in your boat you could really clean up.

I do remember one startup that was supposed to be a boat Airbnb, in the sense of let people come and use your boat for a few hours. That one didn't last long because there's no way in hell anyone who actually owns a boat is going to let some drunks use it without them around.

It's too bad this service didn't make it (from 2002):

Winni Water Taxi

Winni Water Taxi was great for us when we ran some family events in 2004. The boat was built for that purpose with easy on /off over the bow so the prop stayed in deeper water. It's amazing how many different uses the Eastern 27 & 31 have been put in service. I believe the boat was sold for similar use elsewhere, giving the new operation a much lower start-up cost.

Imagine how great it would be to make a meager income doing something like this in your senior years and how wonderful it would be to be on the lake everyday meeting new folks excited to be here in the summer.

As a career no! probably not, but operating something like the Foxy Boat Service on a limited basis ............priceless. :liplick:
