ForumFest 2012

http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...ttened.jpg?612

Chef Jeff from Lakeside Deli & Grille, will be putting together a buffet that will include various appetizers, salads, sandwiches, non alcoholic drinks and desert.
I hope he will post more details as he can.
Alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.

Currently the plan for payment will be cash as you sign in to get your Winnipesaukee.com name tag.

http://i965.photobucket.com/albums/a...g?t=1308320620

Thank you for your cooperation.

***This ForumFest 2012 thread will be where you should RSVP***

I will keep a running list of attendees. Chef Jeff will need a headcount a few days prior to provide the appropriate amount of food for your party.

Due to the late date of getting this ForumFest going, there will be no Raffle for Charity this year.

There are plans in the works for ForumFest 2013 aboard the Winnipesaukee Belle for a 90 minute cruise with a gathering at Wolfe's Tavern afterward, which will work out nicely for those who wish to drop-by for a shorter visit. The Raffle for Charity will be back next year.

I've never been to a forumfest...

Do people usually come by boat, plane, train, car, bike or foot? ;)

I'm guessing not by boat as there are probably not a lot of public docks nearby?

The public docks are right nearby. Just a short dock over to the Deli.

Mrs. HC and I will be there...great spot for the gathering!

webmaster 07-31-2012 09:14 AM

I've been getting questions about the format of this year's ForumFest so I thought I'd provide some explanation:

This year will be our 9th Annual Forumfest and the 10th if you include the mini-ForumFest (PepperFest) held at Waldo Peppers in 2006. Each year we have been very fortunate to have one or more of our members volunteer to organize the event. It takes lots of time and effort to arrange a location, solicit donations from local business for the raffle and manage all the little details. Since I don't live at the lake and have a very demanding full-time job my involvement in the planning has always had to be minimal.

As the date of the usual ForumFest got closer this year no one was stepping forward to organize it. Some of our past organizers have left the area or are just too busy. Once we were into July it seemed like I had to do something if there was going to be a ForumFest this year.

One of my favorite ForumFests was the mini-FF at Waldo Peppers. No one had to do any work or planning in advance. Everyone just showed up, had lunch together and chatted for a couple of hours. I even got to spend most of my time meeting and chatting with people instead of worrying about the video stream and other things. And we helped out a local business. I always hoped to try that format again some day.

With the clock ticking it seemed like this year was a good one to try that again. I spoke to Rattlesnake Gal and we identified a few locations. The new Lakeside Grill and Deli seemed to have a great spot on the lake and their owners are members of the forum. RG contacted them and they were more than happy to host us. Just to be clear, this was my idea, not theirs.

My hope is that it will be a lot like PepperFest. I'm going to spend my time trying to chat with all of you instead of worrying about video streaming, the raffle, the food, etc.

I hope to see you all there!

eillac@dow 08-05-2012 07:26 PM

Webmaster.....

I think you all made a good decision with date and location! I understand that a lot goes into the planning of these events and I thank you for that.

Please plan on 4 of us...me being the "official member" of the forum and the other 3 "lurkers" or "creepers", as I like to call them....will be joining me!

Thank you....

Don, That is what we do with the snowmobile club, it works out well for many events. We had 75 people at Canoe for our Christmas Party and it was a pleasure. I like the potlucks and other things as well but that becomes work for a group of someones!

Reminder

I just wanted to remind everyone that we were asked to pay in cash at the gathering. The Lakeside Deli will be open to the public during our ForumFest and us paying with cash will help to keep things running smoothly for everyone.

The current plan is to pay to get your name tag, that way we know who has paid and who has not. Thank you!

**I am sorry that I am a day late with this (I just saw the Sept 10th date) but unfortunately, we will NOT be attending. Our plans are not working out for us to be there...

fatlazyless 09-12-2012 11:23 AM

Will be there, and will bring the cyano bacteria - tennis ball, toilet, 50-cents toss, lake water fund raiser.....all money goes to keeping the lake clean....last year in August 2011 at the Center Harbor forum-fest, it only brought in a total of $4.50 which was pretty pathetic......and this year it will no doubt do much much better! :):):)

sorry will not be there either attending a wedding this weekend

I'm going to try to be there on Saturday but I've been a bit under the weather lately... Additionally, Argie managed to book a gig that night, too. Stinker.

Anyhow, if I make it, it will be just me - party of one.

Can we pay at the door? Or do you need payment in advanced?

Thanks for putting this together! Mucho appreciated!

I see a wind forecast og 16 MPH tomorrow afternoon. If that holds we will not be leaving the island. This is the one disadvantage of living on the broadside of Rattlesnake!

If it is that windy, it is entirely probable that I will have to miss the fest too. Getting beat up on my PWC is not my cup of tea.

This forecast has changed since yesterday. Maybe we'll be okay.

Need Help!

Given the wind now and the potential for it to be worse for my return trip on my PWC, I will not be able to attend ForumFest today.

My job today was to bring name tags and collect $15 per person as I gave them out. Can someone please do this in my stead? I can reimburse you for any cost incurred for the tags. Sorry for the short notice, I was really hoping to be there. I sure hope someone can step forward! Thank you.

To Chef Jeff and Annie, there are a few of us from the island that will be unable to attend. We would like to honor our financial commitment to you and will need an address to mail a check. Thank you and sorry for the late notice.

If the wind stays as it is we will leave the island on the boat and grab RG on the way...... However, the forecast is for much worse than it is now.. So Cessnaair and I will probably stay put for the day.

RG hike on over and we can share some peanut butter sandwiches!

Thanks to everyone who attended the ForumFest yesterday. The Lakeside Deli & Grill was a perfect location and they provided an outdoor buffet that was fantastic and took great care of us!

This year's ForumFest was a simple gettogether and we didn't have the raffle, speeches or other structure like in past years. Everyone seemed to enjoy just being able to chat and enjoy some great food. As always it was fun to meet some new people and put a face to their forum aliases.

The windy conditions on the lake prevented several people from getting off the islands and I heard that someone coming up from Alton by boat had to turn back. The attendance was a little smaller than usual but I'd estimate that about 40 or more people came by at some point during the afternoon.

I didn't take many pictures and we didn't get a group shot this year. Others were taking pictures too and I hope you'll post a few here.

Thanks again to everyone who dropped by!
