My condolences to the family of Mr. Remy. You must be very proud to have raised such a talented and outstanding son. My prayers are with your family, and those families who suffered losing loved ones on the Lake.

I wish the local Snowmobile Clubs bordering any lake would consider, without liability, coordinating reports on ice conditions from residents, ice fishermen, snowmobilers, and others with knowledge of ice conditions to be included with their trail reports. Obviously, there cannot be any guarantee as to the safety of the ice, but it does give those who venture out on the ice a basis to make a judgement as to the condition of the ice regarding their particular sport. Residents and others in the area know where open water existed just a week ago, and can offer valuable guidance by simply reporting their findings, views or opinions

I believe it will offer invaluable information that may prevent another tragedy.

Heartbreaking

I didn't partake in the derby this year because i would be out of town. Before I left last week I posted a caution in the fishing section hoping to help anyone, not from the area who was wondering on ice conditions. I told my wife before I left that I had a bad feeling because of the ice conditions and recent snow that fell now hiding the unsafe areas. I am still out of town and reading this makes my heart break...

My heart goes out to this young boy, his dad and his family....

Our sincerest condolences and prayers from our family, to the family of this extraordinary young man.
As a snowmobiler myself, a father of 3 son's and a Sleepers Island home owner, I keep reflecting on this father simply wanting to spend quality time with a son that he loves, doing something together that they love, in a place that they love. Something that I can completely relate to.

Live each day to the fullest

So sad, terrible for this to happen when someone is just trying to have some fun and get outside. Tough winter for this.
