D-day
 

Today marks the 78th anniversary of the D-Day invasion by the Greatest Generation. My dad was in an LST and eventually was deployed as a medic in the 2nd wave on Omaha beach. Luckily he survived amidst the horror of the day. We should remember the sacrifices made with prayer for the freedom these brave souls helped to secure for us ! May all who made the ultimate sacrifice lie in eternal peace! We shall NEVER forget !

To give a perspective of what the troops landing at Omaha Beach faced: I took this picture about 1/3 of the way to the waterline at low tide - when the landings happened. German positions lined the ridge in the background. I can’t imagine crossing about 300 yards of open beach under withering enemy fire. My thanks to both the living and the dead.

To get an idea of what they faced, watch "The Longest Day" and "Saving Private Ryan". Unimaginable difficulty crossing those beaches, bravery doesn't adequately sum up what those young men had in them that day and the days that followed.

Today marks the 79th anniversary of D-Day invasion and liberation of France. We shall never forget the hero's of that day and during the ensuing period, who gave their lives for the freedom we all enjoy today. May they rest in eternal peace !

Recalling a story told by an Airborne pair years ago.

He and his companion were at a Florida CAF air show and told of the pair parachuting into an open field on D-Day. Nearby Wehrmacht soldiers behind a fence motioned for the two to approach them. :eek2:

Seeing the two were in a hopeless situation, and about to become prisoners of Germany, they complied. When they passed the fence, they saw a sign (in German) that showed they’d landed in a minefield! :eek:

“The Greatest Generation “ should be required reading for all high school students. They are abysmally uninformed about American history. They are being indoctrinated to believe we are an illegitimate country with a history of oppression and aggression that exploited the world and that we are evil.
We are not perfect, and we had a shameful history of slavery, but we are still the only truly free country in the history of the planet. Despite what the far left says, we are still the shining city on the hill. If we are so awful, why does everyone still want to come here?
Michael Regan was on “National Defense” radio Sunday and told about being in Normandy to raise the American flag….he was talking to a 24 year old American who wondered why we have an American cemetery in Normandy. Shameful.

I don't think that is the situation at all.
We learn about WWII long before high school.
And no one on the Far Left praises Hitler, his social policies, or anything that those that died that day fought against.

All that occurred due the Great Awakening, foretold by Admiral Yamamoto.
The Greatest Generation from that point on would be the most profound financial, social, and political force in the US until the awakening (foretold by Frank Hebert) of the Baby Boomers. And they will hold that position until today's Millennial and Gen Z take that zenith.
