Lyons Den Sold

word on the street. Hopefully they can screw with the layout, but not the menu or quality of product. Fingers crossed . . .

Heard the same. Purchased by the individual that owns the Ellacoya.

Well done and Thank you

Roland and Lauren did a great job. We wish them well as they go forward.

Woody38 11-10-2021 05:03 PM

Extremely sad to see Roland and Lauren moving on, but they have been doing this for a long time and deserve a happy retirement. My wife and I shall miss them and thank them for the many wonderful dinners we had at Lyons Den.
Wishing you well going forward.

We have enjoyed a lot of meals there.

Is it too soon to ask what night will be $5 burger night?

Special

It was always a special day for us if we could run up to the Lyons Den from Rattlesnake for steak tips. I am glad we had the opportunity and with them the very best in their well-earned retirement.

I really enjoyed the food and ambiance when I ate there; I wonder whether the new owners will tinker with the formula or keep it the same?

While I have enjoyed Ellacoya the Lyon's Den is by design a different dining experience.

Getting the facts right

In an effort to get the facts right --

First and foremost at this point in time (11/29) there is ONLY a P&S executed for the sale of the Den and no closing date has been established.

All should be aware that there are "contingencies" that have to be addressed, therefore, no guarantee of the sales completion (yet).

Post #2 in this thread is incorrect !! The potential buyer is more of an investor and will hire an experienced Operational Team to oversee the Den if/when the sale is completed.

The Lyons Den is and will be fully operational through the Holiday Season so don't let extraneous rumors deter you from setting holiday plans. We have already booked our New Year's Eve's reservation :liplick:!!

If wondering, I have NO affiliation with the Lyons Den other than as a Patron & supporter who was there at the onset some 16 years ago and wish both Lauren & Roland the very best as they attempt to turn another chapter in their lives.

come for the views, stay for the food..

First time I've noticed that half their " view " pics show our vehicles and boat ! We love the food here as well....hope the quality continues!!

Den

The Lyons Den was always one of our favorite places for dinner.

Woody38 03-04-2022 05:37 PM

Does anyone have further information as to what is happening with the Lyons Den.

Constant activity the past 6 weeks, plumbers, electricians. carpenters. A large dumpster filled up. Last Sunday the dining room was being painted.

Looking forward to a re-opening. Nice that Roland and Lauren preserved some of the beautiful tile work that Gretchen left. I hope the newbies have some respect for history.

disappointed

We had dinner there in November 2021. It was packed and very noisy. The food was uneventful. Some items seemed to be purchased prepared and heated. Won't go back this summer unless we hear they have upped their game.

Read the thread. The restaurant has been sold and the new owners are the owners of Ellacoya.

Your experience does not seem to be in the majority. If you read many previous entries on this site the Lyons Den has been highly regarded by many patrons for many years.

We ate their often, from bar food, to dinners with groups, to lunches, it was always a great experience.

As I understand it previously from Lauren -- the "Owners" are not Ellacoya, they are "managing" the new establishment.

Meh. We've only been once, but it wasn't good enough to pull us back. And, given their non-Facebook ratings range from 2.9/5 to 4.5/5, it's not a slam dunk.

Updated to add: I really loved their bread pudding.

I agree. There are many posts here about Lyons Den and there are many members here that are loyal customers. I have have been there over the years maybe 7-8 times. Food is good I will not say great. I will say my last dinner their back in October was probably the best meal I’ve had there.

We always felt that the food was great. Until last season we tended to go to Meredith for dinners out. We went to the Den multiple times last summer and loved it. I am sad to see it go, and hope that whatever the new establishment turns out to be that we will enjoy it as much.

Since we are moving up full time soon (and will be right down the street) we need to start branching out and trying new places. Margaritas in Dover will certainly miss us!

I’m on your boat. Ate there a few times. Nothing special at all. Hope new owners bring it life….
