ROV clip: Model A/Model T off Belknap Point

Found this on side scan sonar about 2 years ago but never dove it-sits at about 90 feet down; Got to film it today w/a buddie's ROV. It appears to be in very good shape, not like similar 1920s-1930's cars I gave found in Winnipesaukee.

Lights on ROV were powerful thus the quality is really good even though it would be for the most part very dark, if not blackout conditions for a diver.

Good sonar shots were hard to get and I was baffled by what it could be when I saw them. Car appears to be in remarkable shape given its age.

Skip ahead to minute 2:25 or so as the first 2 mins. or so are of the ROV descending the flag line; images of car ends at about minute 6:15 or so.

I tried editing the clip in an MS Editor but it degraded the quality too much so I post the whole clip. If someone has a good software editor for MS-WMV files let me know because I will be posting more ROV clips.

Still curious about the one that went down in the little channel between Governor's and Eagle Island. Would be hard to dive, given the insane boat traffic, unless it was hit EARLY in the morning...and sometime in September or October. But I read an old newspaper article about it and figured it would still be there. Perhaps ROV would be a way to check it out?

Are water temps shown a function of the time it takes for the sensor to adjust? I wouldn't expect 60 degrees at 90 ft is normal

Nope -- more like the mid- to high-40s at 90 feet. You wouldn't hit 60 until about 20-30 feet at the peak of the season.

Re: an ROV to check the channel-that's alot of territory to cover effectively. I've scanned it but came up with nothing. I believe it is there though-not done trying.

As to the temperature readout on the display-that's the temp inside the ROV unit itself not water temp.

Very nice!

Great clip! Interesting bottom topology right around the car. I wonder what caused that "crater" type effect and something living under mud near right rear door causing the small trench? I wonder where the heavier metal parts at the front of the vehicle went (engine). Perhaps fell off and sunk in mud. Thanks for posting.
