Ice Conditions Prez Day Weekend

Looking to hike across from Meredith Neck to Bear this weekend. How are the current conditions of the ice? How much snow cover? Any skating opportunities?

As of LAST weekend there was anywhere from 16-20" of ice out there with a good 12" of fresh snow cover.

This weekend looking like that snow is gone, I don't think the ice thickness has eroded much if at all considering the warmer temps this week but still dipping down below freezing at night.

It is supposed to turn colder this weekend so I would anticipate any liquid now on the ice surface will re-freeze.

May want to be wearing some cramp ons if walking.

water

I just came out to Rattlesnake on my ATV. Drove through standing water most of the way. The snow is gone. It is going to get well below freezing tonight, and into tomorrow afternoon, so there should be some real nice skating.

I am a bit disappointed that you did not also suggest a noodle belt. :(

....just saw this donkey .... one fast looks tells me the donkey is smarter than you ..... it knows to stay away from thin ice so's it won't wind up a 'dead floater' ... trapped in the water, unable to crawl up and onto the ice shelf ....foating upside down, dead, in the icy cold water .... a big donkey meal for all the local eagles and crows to devour!

As of yesterday, the town must have fixed one of the ice eaters at the Cattle Landing dock ..... because what was ice is now water....and the dock is 100% surrounded by water making it no longer doable as a starting point.
