The Walmart in Tilton has waders in its' fishing area, while the Plymouth and Gilford Walmarts have no waders. Tilton Walmart has the Hodgeman brand waders at three price levels; aprox $14.88, $49, and $99; purchased and tried the $14.88 and $49 waders the last couple years for dock removal/install only to quickly go leaky, and leaky waders in icy water gets you very cold and wet, very fast, no good for doing dock work. Dry waders go a long, long way for doing dock work in icy cold water.

Finally, I went with the big money $99 waders yesterday, and they actually work good and do not go leaky ...... hurray for dry waders!

Wearing long underwear and heavy socks under the dry waders, the icy cold 34-degree water is really not too cold for a 2-3 hour stretch of doing the in & out dock removal thing ...... totally the opposite with leaky waders .... leaky waders in icy water are like totally terri-bobble.

Probably, the $99-Hodgeman are neoprene, and the $49 and $14.88-Hodgeman are pvc coated nylon which have gone leaky at the seam in some hidden, invisible spot.

Nice thing about Tilton-Walmart is you can try 'em on for size, right there in the fishing aisle, and no one looks at you funny when you do jumping jacks to make sure they are a good fit and feel.

Dry neoprene waders make dock work in ice water pretty much doable .... more or less.

I Beat FLL - found a used pair on Craigslist 5 years ago and haven't leaked at all, only paid $25!!!!!!!

...... $25 and no leaks ...... a steal of a deal! ...... looking at www.hodgman.com/hodgman-waders/ ..... it appears the $119.99 Bigfoot is what Walmart has for 99.98, plus you get to try them on before buying

Define "penny wise, pound foolish." Should've spent the $99 initially and saved $65 and a whole lotta time. (Especially with something that involves comfort and safety)

And, just, like, think of all the noodles you coulda bought at the super duper Walmart...or the gas you coulda bought to grab a free real high quality coffee at Heath's...

Yes, that's true about penny wise, and pound foolish ...... I agree. But also there's the difference between foresight and hindsight, and affordability or ability to buy it at the time which is a big part of the purchase process.

Like, when you ain't got the money for the 99.98 waders, you go with the 14.88 waders that quickly go leaky.

Our federal gov getting it done, at least for me it got it done; so's because I got my $1750 soc sec payment received on Dec 25 ..... I can purchase the better 99.98 waders at Walmart on Sun, Jan 7, and do the 6-hour dock and boat lift removal thing, yesterday, when it was a warm and sunny 39-degrees with water temp at 34.

So, there's pvc-coated nylon, and there's neoprene. Probably, the skill of the person running the sewing machine that makes each piece is maybe more important than the material itself, as to whether it will leak, or not to leak ...... that is the question? ... :laugh:
