Found this cool site with a search-able copy of the famous 1903 Walker Map of the Lake.
It's search able and you can d/l the map. The resolution is awesome when you "zoom" to different spots on the lake. http://maps.bpl.org/details_10495/?s...t&srch_fa=save This is a snip of Lake Shore Park with the Hotel before it burned down in 1910. Big Pier, the pavilion and the RR track. Attachment 5035 You can search the entire map to that level of detail. |
That is way cool SteveA! I found our cottage in Center Harbor. I have never seen a map like this. Thank You!:D

How much? Did you recognize the value from SteveA's post?

It's a Print, but a Really Good One...
As I purchased it, I was told that Walker 1903 Maps were sold as unframed prints at Hickorystick Farm for $10.
The mountains are labeled in the print. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and already have this one hanging on the wall. :) |

About 5 years ago they started selling reproductions of the map, you could find them all around the lake in gift shops for about $10. The cool thing about this map is that it is on line, and you can zoom to the detail of the map that is hard to discern from the printed maps. Maybe I didn't explain myself. :) Look here for the asking price for the 1925 version. You can see that these are the folded Boston and Maine Railroad brochures. The one I have is the same map but a 1909 edition. I found it on E-Bay for $37.00, guy didn't know what he had. :D http://www.raremapsandbooks.com/inde...oducts_id=7780 http://cgi.ebay.com/Lake-Winnipesauk...item1e50862340 Here is an example of the "repos" that are around. Note.. no folds. http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Map-Lake.../dp/B001IZ0AHY If you have a copy of the orginal "folded" map, not a repo... you did real good for your $10! |
We have a reprint. The detail is nothing like the link you posted. Thank You Steve.
Revision: I took a look at the print today in better light and it was better in detail than I thought. Aparently my eyes are not as good as the link you posted. |
Great Link...thanks Steve...:)

I now have 2 versions of the 1909 map...so hard to find a 1903, the only one available online is very expensive...if anyone ever knows of any available please let me know!

I used your link, but got more search terms. What exactly did you use to get that map?
Thanks in advance |

I have finally acquired a 1903 colored chromolithographic version of this George Walker map. In my quest to find a 1903 version I have acquired two 1909 versions. Like the one being sold here: https://www.geographicus.com/P/Antiq...-walker-1909-2 They are both in very good condition and in fact both are still in there folded up configuration as you would have gotten it back in 1909 getting on the train! But can easily be unfolded to display or frame. I wanted to offer them for sale here before doing Ebay or something else as this is definitely the right forum for it. If you are interested please message me and we can discuss. Thank you! Josh |
