Says they won't be running the restaurant any longer--has it closed or been sold?

I just had a great experience there a couple weeks back and have been telling everyone about it!

I believe the current property owner is going to attempt to run it.

Union Leader Our Gourmet review

This past Wed. Christmas Island got a very good review in the Our Gourmet column. Their score was 88/100 which is high. The review is online.

I can't imagine any restaurant owner screwing up a new place. All they have to do is follow all of the advise given here on this forum under restaurants and they will have the busiest place for special one time a year events in the entire lakes region.

From what I understand, the property owner increased the rent enough to not make it work?

While your advice is meant to be a bit tongue in cheek... it is correct:)

The people who own the property are running it now. Great people, very committed to putting out a quality product.

Hopefully service improves! The food was always great, especially when Tony was cooking, but I always got the impression we were burdening the staff.

Saturday night

I had the opportunity to stop in to the steak house on Saturday night for a cocktail and to see the owners. They are long time friends of myself and Mrs Breeze. The bar was rocking with DJ Jason and the bar patrons were dancing to his awesome dance mix. He is going to be there every Saturday night through the Summer. The bar was still full and going strong at 11:00 pm. It looks like they have the right combination of food and entertainment for the area. I had a great time there Saturday night. It looks like the new happening spot in the neighborhood!!

Christmas Island menu

I agree with you mr Breeze. The new owners are fabulous people. They are trying very hard to pick up the pieces from the previous management, who obviously didn't know how to run or manage a restaurant. I have had the pleasure of dining there several times, and though they are still working out the kinks, it was a great dining experience. Very refreshing to see smiling faces from the staff. I truly wish the new owners the best of luck on their new venture.

There's no reason to disparage the prior operators. They are really good people who made a go of it, and it didn't work out.

I REALLY loved the experience we had there a few months ago, so as far as I'm concerned the previous operators were fabulous!
