What is it about Labs and recliners? My two have to share the recliner with whomever is sitting there. I had to get an extra large one, recliner that is, to accomodate us all.

Cosmo looks happy in his new home.

Greene's Basin Girl 10-11-2011 10:17 PM

donnamatrix-- I will be anxious to meet Cosmos when you are out in the boat. Maybe he will learn to float and he can join me by my raft. I have plenty of extra floats. He is a beautiful dog.

Dogs are messy!

Hi GBG: Jerry wanted a pal. Now he has one. Don't look at the total chaos in the background of the photo... dogs create havoc. Cosmo is a nice guy, and he hasn't even tried to chase or eat the cats. Amen!!!

Bring him by to play with Steeler!!

Steeler is a giant!

I am fairly certain that although Steeler is a lover, he is HUGE, and Cosmo is a bit timid. I think he would wet his fur!!!

You should see him with my buddy's 5 pound dog and Steeler's new "girl", Athena (our 5 month old kitten). No worries!

Seriously though, socializing dogs when they are young is the key.

My Two Lake Lovers

2 Attachment(s)
It's nearly impossible to keep these two out of the Lake. Reilly (9.5 yrs) still catches some good air retrieving the Frisbee. Lucy (4) prefers the ball, and will go all day long. They, like me, are lucky enough to have spent all their years on the Lake, and love it just as much.

Pineedles 11-16-2011 08:28 PM

Grant, once again thanks for some great photos! I think your Reilly and mine (yellow Lab, same age, same diving skill) must be of the same blood.:D

I thought your dog learned those diving skills from watching his master.

Looks just like my rescue dobie that doesn't like water much either - what a beauty!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm very sorry for your loss... I can tell she was loved from your posts, and from the picture you shared of her.

oh my god that is so beautiful, we lost our Maxwell the day after Thanksgiving 3 years ago it was the hardest day of my life and many days after. my wife and i don't have children but we have 3 kids and they are 3 Labs. they are our lives. when i saw the picture of the rainbow bridge i started to weep, i actually built a bridge in my backyard were our Maxwell use to run out to the back permiter of the fence and chase the deer or turkeys. that was his spot and is today. Dogs and family pets are the truelly the greatest gift to our spirits and well being. take care:)

Greene's Basin Girl 03-03-2012 12:40 AM

I second that!

Dogs enjoy the lake too

Reading through some of the earlier posts from those who don't love dogs, I am reminded of our Hunter, who came into our lives as an 8 year old rescue. When we first got him, we didn't understand why, every time we passed a body of water in the car, he would cry. Then we brought him to Albee Beach, after hours of course, and learned just how much he loved the water, certainly as much as any child at the beach. I recall getting on a Wolfeboro forum and asking the question, why can't one of the many beaches in the area be dog friendly? Some of the replies were almost viscious, people talking about having dirty dogs in the water, and how that was disgusting. The fact that small children are in the water with their diapers on (think about it) and that dogs never do their business in the water did not seem to occur to them. For some of us, dogs are our children. We just sold our sailboat in favor of a 32' Pontoon with lots of shade so our "children" could be with us on the lake. If you see us out there, give a toot, the name of the boat ? 'R' Doghouse, of course.

I love your post! You sound just like us! We do everything for so our "kids" can be with us too. I think it is sad that dogs are not allowed so many places. We have been told many times, how good ours are and they say they wish most kids were that good when people took them somewhere.

Bail will be two at the end of August and Harry is just shy of 3 months old.

Harry accidentally took his first swim today. Don't think he much cared for for it.

I've learned that is quite difficult to take good picture of a dark colored dog!

Check out your pups new license tags!

Rosie looks like a real good companion! I noticed the pine tree license on her collar. It is similar to our town's 2012 tag.

The thing that bothered me with our town's latest license tag is that the sharp edges had burrs, as opposed to other years where sharp edges were filed smooth. I don't know who manufacturerd these tags for towns, but I registered a complaint with my town and they said they would look into it. I filed Rielly's and Sam's new tags so there were no burr edges or sharp corners. Over protective? Maybe. Can't trust government agencies to make sure that my "kids" aren't hurt? You betya!

Jeff, Rosie is a great companion. Leslie and I love her. BTW that is not a Pine Tree License. It is a fire hydrant license.
