PS We hit up Kellerhaus last night, and I like their banana boat because I can get a few different flavors of ice cream. No peanut butter sauce, though. [emoji3525] Sent from my SM-G950U using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

I started this thread, so it makes perfect sense I'd be involved in it, yes?! As to my cholesterol, it is perfect—as is my sugar. I get ice cream once a week but eat (mostly) well the rest of the time and exercise every day! You know what they say*: "an ice cream a week is a fun way to hang with family and create new traditions at the lake!" * No one says this. Sent from my SM-G950U using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

Last evening, on the most American of holidays, my family and friends journeyed to the Wolfeboro town docks. Upon seeing the line at Bailey's Bubble, I remembered your advocacy on behalf of Dockside, so we gave it a go as there was no line and B'sB was significant. As someone above noted, ice cream is always good, but I reject your thesis that Dockside is #2 in the area. I respect you very much, but your taste in ice cream shops is suspect and very much in question. Though the servers were exceptionally friendly and the prices reasonable, the sundaes were ill-constructed. I am unsure whether I would make the same decision in the future were the circumstances similar, but given equal lines, Bailey's Bubble is the clear winner. I hope to someday resolve our differences and put all this past us. My Very Best, thinkxingu * The above silliness comes courtesy of a quiet house, the result of the wife and kids sleeping in after a late night of boating, fireworks, and sub-par ice cream sundaes. As I have stated in a previous ice cream post, I am only into the ice cream itself. All those chemical sauces, jimmies, sprinkles or whatever we’re supposed to be calling them this week, I don’t care for and feel it detracts from the natural flavor of the ice cream. And with that said I stand by my selection in this post called “Best Ice Cream On The Lake” not sauces and fluff fluff....:D:D Dan the ice cream man! |

I was at Bailey's Bubble on Friday, July 3rd, and was quite surprised to see Blueberry and Strawberry available as a soft serve flavor! So I tried it out and thought it was just fine. Never seen that flavor before as a soft serve.
Bailey's Bubble runs a soft serve "Flavor of the Day" and last year tried their Coffee flavor, and also their Black Raspberry flavor. Both were also excellent. I think Coffee is my favorite soft serve flavor but I find it almost impossible to find as a soft serve, so I will always grab it anywhere if I ever see it. Am curious to read about other unusual soft serve flavors, and where they are obtainable. |

The same can be said for people that put ketchup on a thick, well marbled, sirloin strip! However, that’s a subject for a different thread! ;) |
I LOVE how passionate this discussion is. ICE CREAM IS NO JOKE.
PS For those who don't know, Dan extended an offer to take my son and me fishing last year, and we had a GREAT time together—he's a class act, as are almost all people I've encountered through my time on the lake—and our needling each other is purely in jest. My family and I will definitely be taking a side trip home soon to check out Jordan's. I will report when we do. Sent from my SM-G950U using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

Years ago I really enjoyed getting a cone at Sawyers: butter pecan usually.
I thought it was great. It's been awhile since I stopped in there: do they still have good, home-made ice cream? |
Think/Dan--I appreciate the divide. I'm a long-time Bailey's Bubble lover--a big fan of the scene, their kid's size sundaes, and the ability to walk over to the lake while eating. But last week I made the crucial error of ordering a kid's size dish (my body is a temple) instead of the usual sundae. Meh--it was really so mediocre I was wondering why I bought it at all. So it's definitely the toppings...and I'll be looking for Dan at Dockside for my next ice cream

If you want an awesome ice-cream treat.
Try walking into the Common Man Camp Restaurant and ask for a Take Out "Snow Ball". It's in Meredith across the street from the public docks. It's enough for two people to share. Hmmm, that S'more looks pretty good too. https://www.thecman.com/uploads/0019...sertSummer.pdf |
The boy and I were driving home from a camping trip (Mead Base Exploration Camp—AWESOME), so we decided to seek out a new place and decided on Jordan's.
We got a Belly Buster bucket with apple pie, blueberry pie, pumpkin, black raspberry, and Heath bar ice creams; hot fudge and peanut butter sauces; butterfinger pieces; and whipped cream. The apple pie absolutely stood out from the rest, followed closely by blueberry pie. For $12, it was AWESOME. I absolutely see why people like it, and I wish it were closer to camp. Not Lakes Region but
Not the Lakes Region, but the Putnam Pantry in Danvers MA has/had the Bunker Hill, 17 scoops of whatever ice cream flavor(s) you wanted, piled up on a platter, served with as many spoons that you need, along with plenty of napkins. Scoops were large. I think you could also get sauces, whipped cream, nuts, cherries, etc..
It's been quite a while since we were there, but it was great with several people sitting around the table with their own spoon. Dave |
Now I'm totally interested: any "crazy" places in the Lakes Region? Kellerhaus and Jordan's have cool things, but anyone else?

Jboltly: did you go in at Dewey's?
Weekend of the 4th they were not open, w/ a sign on door stating not opening Memorial weekend "supply issues". I hope they are...hard to find sugar free ice cream. 2) Richardson's good, but it's not what the Mass. crowd hypes it up to be. Giffords in Maine is better. 3)Jordan's... not only good but the creativity of flavors and base products, off the charts. |

I went to Bobbie Sue's in freedom earlier in the week and was disappointed in the rum raisin. It was like plain vanilla with raisins. good quality tho |
Bobby Sues, longtime favorite. Can get it a Bly's in Wolfeboro as well as some other locals
|
Jbolty thanks for the Dewey's update, i'll be there in 39 hours!

Never got to Dewey's, but here's my family's top 5 ice cream ranking for ±20 minutes from the lake:
#1 ice cream: The Maple Creamery #1 sundaes: Liliuokalani's #2: Eldridge Family Sugar House (Tamworth) #3: Jordan's (Belmont) #4: Bailey's Bubble #5: Kellerhaus Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk |

This summer Sawyer’s has been a good backup for Lily’s. Just yesterday there were 30 people in line for an hour and a half at 7:00 P.M. They have blueberry-flavored hard ice cream with frozen blueberries evenly embedded throughout.
