Yup...same with Steve C. and steve-on-mark, yet even MORE plain...it's simply my name. No 'net anonymity required. (Although I coulda used some after making the outrageous and misinformed claim here back in 2002 or so that there were actually ROCK BASS in the Lake. People thought I was full of it...or something that rhymes with it.) ;)

Many years ago I was running a summer program for disadvantaged kids and they liked to play Tetris in the computer room during break. They encouraged me to join them and I was hooked to the point that I won!!! .... and had to add my six letter name to the winner list. The kids encouraged me to put "mcdude" .... and there you have it. I've been known as mcdude where I worked but also as "Mickey Dee" .. (btw my name is Mike McDavitt)

Lot of cool stories so far ( except for mine and Steve the Spy's [emoji16] ) Don't be shy!

Mine is a little convoluted as well. I own a 2000 Four Winns Horizon. It has the “Captains Call” exhaust which is a feature where I can turn my obnoxious loud exhaust on and off. (It wasn’t obnoxious 22 years ago…) The 1983 movie Blue Thunder starring Roy Scheider (Jaws) was about a fictitious Metropolitan Police Department that used a state of the art helicopter. It had a feature called “whisper mode” so it could fly in close undetected. I had a 33 year career in Law Enforcement and my boat is blue…..so…..Blue Thunder it is!
I guess I could’ve just said it’s the name of my boat but what fun would that be? |

It's the abbreviated address of my favorite place on the big lake that our family had to sell in 2012. Brings back memories of nearly 45 summers in one spot.

If it was allowed it would have already been taken long ago. |
Excellent point! You'd be seeing YSF1, YSF2, etc.

Poor Richard comes from a couple things...
The short version is, it's a euphemism of sorts and it also happens to be the name of the font I use for my company. The company font aside, the longer PG-13 version is: On another forum, in the for sale section there were always a few members lowballing or, my favorite, "I'll have the cash in 2 weeks, can you hold it for me?" When in actuality these individuals never seemed to make a purchase on anything ever........ever. From that, the term "brokedick" was eventually the label those select few had to live with and me being me, I found that to be exceptionally entertaining because of how it played out on that forum....that and it was simply the perfect description for these folks. Anyway, as I was signing up to this forum, I wanted to use something different than the name I generally use and so I drew inspiration from the company font, had a chuckle and went with it. :D NEXT! |

My husband gave me that moniker after one too many boat rides where I questioned his captains ability. All in good fun, tho!

Like many of you, who chose your nickname from your boat or a motorcycle etc., I also took my nickname from my car.
Back in May, 1969, for my birthday, before my junior year of college, (Belknap College ) my parents bought me a turquoise, Mercury Cougar convertible with a white top. What a beautiful car! When I showed up on campus, driving all around Center Harbor, everybody started calling me Susie Cougar. (My first name is Susan) |

I am old enough to remember when the Merc Cougar came out in '67 however many here likely never heard of the car. |
