Winnipesaukee Annual Regatta (W.A.R.) - July 19th
The Winnipesaukee Annual Regatta (W.A.R.) is organized in Gilford on Lake Winnipesaukee each year by LWSA. Youth sailors and youth sailing organizations from across New England, New York, and adjacent regions always ensure that the W.A.R. is a welcoming, spirited competition with a fun time had by all. 2018 W.A.R. at Winnipesaukee Yacht Club and LWSA Dave Adams Sailing Center on July 19th.

July 5 A Wildlife Photographic Odyssey – Rick “MooseMan” Libby
Join nature photographer Rick “The Mooseman” Libby for a photographic tour of New Hampshire’s wildlife. Enjoy his beautiful photos of the wildlife of the Lakes Region and beyond. You may even see a loon!

July 12 New Hampshire Wildlife – Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Naturalist
Are you curious about the critters that inhabit the Granite State? Join a Squam Lakes Natural Science Center naturalist to meet three live animals that you could encounter in our forests, fields, or wetlands. Discover what makes them well-suited for life in New Hampshire.

July 19 Learning from Loons: linking animal, human & ecosystem health - Mark Pokras – Tufts University
The links between animal health, human health and the environment are undeniable. This talk will focus on how a long-term study of the common loon (Gavia immer), is contributing to our knowledge of these links. Iconic symbol of our northern lakes, we have learned a great deal about the basic biology of this long-lived species in the last few decades, as well as finding that this species can also yield important insights on pollutants, emerging pathogens, climate change, and other threats.

July 26 A Century of Forest Conservation – Dave Anderson – Co-host of “Something Wild”
This presentation includes historical photos of early White Mountain logging operations. Today at 84% forested, NH is the second-most forested state in the nation by total land area. The value of NH forests for timber, water supply, wildlife habitat, recreation, scenery and tourism is the true "New Hampshire advantage." Learn about NH forest history, forest succession and forested wildlife habitats.

August 2 Eyes of the Wild: Hawks and Owls – Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Naturalist
Peer into the raptor world through an up close experience with live hawks and owls that call New Hampshire home. Join a Squam Lakes Natural Science Center naturalist to compare the fascinating similarities and difference between hawks and owls and discover how they are perfectly suited to the habitat niche they each fill.

August 9 New Hampshire’s Moose– Kristine Rines – New Hampshire Fish and Game
Have you ever wondered about the life of Moose? This program covers the history and life history of New Hampshire’s Moose. It will also include a review of current management practices and research as well as a discussion of what the future holds for this icon of the northwoods.

August 16 Dragons and Damsels of New Hampshire – Pam Hunt – New Hampshire Audubon
You may be familiar with the dragonflies buzzing over your yard in the summer, or the damselflies that land on your kayak, but what do you REALLY know about these ancient insects? This program provides an overview of the biology and ecology of dragonflies and damselflies, from their amazing life cycle to their incredible diversity. It also highlights a few of NH's notable species and their stories, and closes with some results from the “NH Dragonfly Survey.

August 23 State of the Loons – Wildlife Photographer John Rockwood & LPC Senior Biologist/Executive Director Harry Vogel
Wildlife photographer John Rockwood will share photos and video of local Loon families from two southern NH lakes, from arrival through August. LPC Senior Biologist/Executive Director, Harry Vogel, will present trends in New Hampshire’s loon population and preliminary statistics on how loons fared in NH this year.
