Lakes Region Waterfront Sales Report - February 2013

There were three sales in February on Lake Winnipesaukee at an average of $1.26 million. Thatís down from last February when we had seven sales that were all below the million dollar mark resulting in an average price of just $606,429. While the total number of sales are down this year so far, at least a few high dollar properties are moving.

There were 54 residential home sales in January in the Lakes Region communities covered by this real estate market report. The average sales price was $189,399 and the median price came in at $169,430. I thought that was pretty dismal until I looked at last Januaryís sales numbers and realized we only had 48 sales then. It seems like every day you hear about something unexpected happening. Like the unexpected rise in unemployment claims, or the unexpected drop in the nationís gross domestic product, or that the Pope unexpectedly is going to step down. Well, two out of three have pretty much become expected. But just to keep it rolling, unexpectedly there was only one waterfront home sold on Lake Winnipesaukee in January....

According to what I have read on-line, the most popular house color, not surprisingly, is white. All you have to do is look around good old New England and you can see quaint villages full of white houses, churches, and town buildings. According to one article, 37% of homeowners would choose white as the predominate color if they were to repaint the exterior of their home.
