I've been coming to the lake now for almost 40 years now. Of those years I lived in Wells, ME for 5 summers and came over to the lake almost every week. Two years ago I bought on Bear Island. I spend many hours on the lake on PWC and have been given a warning once for a bogus 150' violaton. The MP kid was way to far away to see that the other boat 30ft behind me was also over 200 feet to my right. I also saw a PWC with driver and observer facing rear stopped and escorted back to dock as they had 2 people in a tube. A boat went by a short time later and had a driver, one spotter and 2 in a tube but was not stopped. A friend was given a warning for not getting 150 ft of distance from other pwc's when accelerating away, yet boats do the same thing leaving the Weir's Channel and no wake zones. I'm curious to hear others experiences and try to see if there is a pattern. If so I think the MP need to ease up on PWC or crack down on the boats the same way. Thoughts????

I am inclined to agree with you. I think people in general who don't own a PWC don't like PWC's. There are probably a lot of complaints called in to the MP about PWC's, and in some cases with good reason. I think it is a factor of a few rotten eggs spoil the bunch, or something like that.

I have been stopped a couple times on my PWC, both times with similar instances you had...phantom 150' violations. They were so far away, there was no way they could tell how close I may have been to a particular boat. My guess is they think they may have seen a 150' violation, and pull over the PWC no matter what. Gives them an excuse to check safety equip, boaters certs, etc.
