The Winni Waterfront Report.
There were just five waterfront sales on Lake Winnipesaukee in March, 2017 at an average price of $1,389,800 and a median price point of $1,450,000. That brings the total for the first quarter of 2017 to 15 sales at an average price of $1,545,173 with a median price point of $1.5 million. The Disappearing Clothesline

Posted 05-08-2016 at 06:13 PM by Roy Sanborn

The Disappearing Clothesline

I was skimming through this month’s issue of the Northern New England Journey magazine put out by AAA and on the last page there was a short article about clotheslines called “For the Love of Laundry.” Basically, the writer was expounding on how she was happy to get back to hanging her laundry out on the line after a long winter and how doing so was a relaxing and enjoyable chore for her. It reminds her of her childhood days and trips to a cottage...

Christmas Houses - The Lakes Region of NH Real Estate Report

There are many great movies that include Christmas as part of their storyline. The homes that these stories take place in are integral to the plot and have become memorable themselves. One of the most famous homes is the Griswold’s house in Christmas Vacation. This home looks like it could be on Edwards Street in Laconia but is actually located...

Updated 08-21-2015 at 11:11 AM by moneill

Where can you wake up to the smell of pines and the gentle sound of waves lapping at the shore? Where can you swim out into the water without having to worry about snakes, alligators, and sharks? Where can you find a haven away from the chaos of the world and yet be close to fine restaurants and top-level entertainment?

Where can you be immersed to your neck and still see your feet through clear sparkling water? Where can you drive down a road with a beautiful expanse of water only...

A Christmas House

Posted 12-21-2013 at 11:11 AM by Roy Sanborn

A Christmas House

As Walter Mathau often said in Grumpy Old Men, “Holy Moley” Christmas is almost here. Last month there were 89 residential home sales in the twelve towns in this Lakes Region market report. That means a good number of families will be celebrating Christmas in a new home and that’s pretty cool. The average sales price last month was $227,738 and the median price point was...

Sales are up, but not prices...

Posted 08-25-2013 at 12:46 PM by Roy Sanborn

Sales are up, but not prices...

OK! Finally, there were over a hundred residential homes sales in one month in the towns covered by this report. There were 110 in July, to be exact, at an average sales price of $299,469. This may not be exactly a watershed moment in the Lakes Region real estate world, but it has been a long time since this happened. Last July there were just 70 sales at...

Olde English Real Estate Proverbs

Olde English Real Estate Proverbs

I was thinking about some old English proverbs about real estate. You know, sayings like “a man’s home is his castle”, “a house is not a home”, “home is where the heart is”, and the ever popular; “there’s no place like home.” Looking at a list of proverbs I realized that most of them applied to real estate and wondered whether a real estate agent was sitting...

Lakes Region of NH Waterfront Sales Report January - 2013

Posted 02-19-2013 at 03:31 PM by Roy Sanborn

It seems like every day you hear about something unexpected happening. Like the unexpected rise in unemployment claims, or the unexpected drop in the nation’s gross domestic product, or that the Pope unexpectedly is going to step down. Well, two out of three have pretty much become expected. But just to keep it rolling, unexpectedly there was only one waterfront home sold on Lake Winnipesaukee in January....

Lakes Region Waterfront Sales Report - February 2012

Posted 03-16-2012 at 09:10 AM by Roy Sanborn

There were seven waterfront sales on Winnipesaukee in February at an average price of $606,429. That doesn’t sound real impressive but there were just six sales last February at an average price of $467,667 so we are one up for the month. Obviously, you have to the more expensive homes selling to get a high average sales price and that was just not the case last month.

The highest sale...
