New Hampshire received another accolade on November 18th. A recent national study showed New Hampshire at the coveted #1 spot for senior citizens…top in the USA for health-related quality of life.

The study’s lead author, Diana Kachan–a 3rd year doctoral student at the University of Miami’s School of Medicine, said “Healthy lifestyle is probably the major factor that is contributing to the quality of life.” The study analyzed almost 80,000 adults at least 65 years old and arrived at the national rankings. New Hampshire ranked 1st followed by Nevada and Delaware. Alaska came in last, preceded by Alabama and West Virginia.

Kachan said, “New Hampshire’s ranking probably has to do with population composition, access to healthcare, and its generally easier for people to get around and live their lives. There are more opportunities for people to stay active, so they stay healthier longer.”

Roche commented, “This latest accolade adds flavor to New Hampshire’s continued attraction along with the following #1 rankings:

“Most livable state in the nation”
“#1 State for retirement in the country”
“Lowest crime rate in the country”
“Lowest poverty rate in the country”
“Rated best place in the nation to raise children”
“Highest median income in the nation”

We are all fortunate to live in such a great state with so many natural amenities within our borders…That’s why we call it “The New Hampshire Advantage.”
